Tool hints at new music but leaves fans uneasy

Since forming in 1990, the band Tool has released just five studio albums over the past 36 years. There was a long 13-year gap between their 2006 album, 10,000 Days, and 2019’s Fear Inoculum. However, drummer Danny Carey suggests fans won’t have to wait as long for the next one, as the band is aiming to release a new album soon.

Tool fans are used to waiting for new albums, but even for them, the next release might take a while. The band hasn’t released an album in under three years since the mid-1990s, and they’re now at a point where they don’t need to feel pressured to hurry the process.

The band continues to earn money from touring and isn’t interested in overexposing their unique sound. There are very few progressive metal bands as talented as they are – some would argue no other band can compare to the skill of vocalist Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones, drummer Danny Carey, and bassist Justin Chancellor. Do they deserve a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Absolutely, but it’s unlikely they’re concerned about not being inducted yet.

Tool hopes to release a new album in 2027 (though we’ve heard the same kind of story before)

Regarding their upcoming, currently untitled album, Carey recently told the Spiral Out Network that the band aims to release it in 2027. They’re currently writing a significant amount of new music. Tool’s albums have generally become shorter over time, with each release featuring fewer tracks than the last, a trend that began with their 1996 album, Ænema.

Tool probably won’t release a double album anytime soon, but with this band, you can never say never. They might even do a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas – they’d be a great fit for that venue.

Carey mentioned they’re considering performing at the Sphere when their next album comes out, believing it would be a great venue for their music. They’ve already started discussions with the people in charge there.

Those who’ve experienced a Tool concert know their music and visuals create an incredible synergy. It’s more than just hearing progressive rock; it’s a fully immersive experience that engages all the senses.

Honestly, the visuals are a game-changer – it’s like Nine Inch Nails bringing movies into their shows. It makes me think Tool would be perfect for a residency at the Sphere. And if it happens in 2027 or later, they might even have new tracks to play! Seriously, start saving now, because these concerts are going to be epic – you absolutely won’t want to miss them.
