Tony Todd, Veteran Film, TV, Game Actor, has Died

As a lifelong fan who had the privilege of witnessing Tony Todd‘s illustrious career unfold, I find myself deeply saddened by his passing. From the chilling Candyman to the menacing Venom, his roles were not just performances, but experiences that left indelible marks on our collective consciousness.

It is with sadness that we report the passing of actor Tony Todd, who was 69 years old. Throughout his illustrious career, Todd appeared in films, TV series (notably as a chilling Vietnam veteran in The X-Files), and video games.

Lately, he’s been known for portraying Venom in Spider-Man 2, and he will soon make an appearance in the forthcoming Indiana Jones movie titled The Great Circle.

As a gamer, hearing about the loss of Tony Todd, a friend to Insomniac Games, has left me feeling deeply saddened. His contributions during the creation of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 were immeasurable, filling our studio with joy and his unique voice echoing throughout the project. To many fans worldwide, he was an unforgettable presence. In spirit, I am Venom… forever remembering him.

It’s worth noting that while Todd may be best known for portraying Candyman on screen, his unique vocal talents also proved fitting for video game roles.

I’ve lent my voice to the Vortigaunts in Half-Life 2: Episode Two, as well as to the character Briggs in the initial installment of Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Quite an exhilarating experience, I must say!

He fought cancer, and died at his home, in Marina del Rey, California, on 6th November, 2024.
