Tony Pankhurst, Star of The Dark Pictures Anthology, Has Died

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Tony Pankhurst, the brilliant actor who brought the enigmatic and chilling presence of The Curator to life in the Dark Pictures Anthology series by Supermassive Games. His performance was a masterclass in creepy, understated acting with an underlying current of knowing authority that left a lasting impression on me as a fan.

Tonally equivalent: Sixty-seven-year-old British actor Tony Pankhurst, known for his role as The Curator in Dark Pictures Anthology, has passed away.

In a post on Twitter, Supermassive Games paid tribute to the actor:

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tony Pankhurst, who was deeply cherished as the beloved representative of The Curator among us. We enjoyed every moment collaborating with him.”

In addition to working on games, Pankhurst also built a successful career in television and movies. He appeared in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and “Legend,” the Tom Hardy production based on the Kray twins.

On his website, Pankhurst’s family paid tribute and announced that he passed away on May 9, 2024. They mentioned his passion for Brighton Hove Albion FC. Additionally, the family expressed their gratitude towards Hospice in the Weald, an institution that has received a £200 donation from Supermassive Games.

The late artist’s contributions to the “Dark Pictures” project were exceptional. They were marked by an eerie yet subtle touch, and a sense of quiet command that left a lasting impression. His absence will be deeply felt.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tony Pankhurst, a beloved figure and the public face of The Curator. His presence among us will be deeply missed as we cherished every moment collaborating with him. ❤️
