Tony Armstrong breaks his silence on his future plans in television after ugly split with the ABC... and rumours he will replace veteran Seven newsreader

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that Tony Armstrong‘s career moves have been nothing short of intriguing. Having worked in the fast-paced world of news for many years, his decision to shift towards slower projects seems like a breath of fresh air. It’s always fascinating to see professionals transition from high-intensity roles into more contemplative ones, much like how a cheetah might decide to take a leisurely stroll through the savannah after a thrilling chase.

Tony Armstrong has at last disclosed his future ventures in the world of television following his departure from ABC News Breakfast.

The TV star – widely regarded as the public broadcaster’s golden boy – departed his role earlier last Friday after three years at the network.

During an appearance on Channel Ten’s The Project on Friday, Armstrong discussed his plans for his future career, mentioning that he will be focusing on tasks that are less hurried than the bustling newsroom atmosphere he is accustomed to, implying a shift towards slower-paced work.

The 35-year-old clarified to the group that ‘News Breakfast’, or news in general, is like being tied to a desk, which means you constantly need to return to your subject matter.

‘It’s harder to do the slower thinking. So working on a few things like that.

‘I won’t be on telly as much as I have been. But I’ll be around.’

Besides hinting about a thrilling factual six-part series coming up in early 20XX with ABC, the television personality also promoted his latest kids’ book entitled “George the Wizard” during an appearance on The Project.

Armstrong’s announcement arises during whispers suggesting his potential takeover from Tim Watson as the sports presenter for 7News Melbourne on Channel Seven.

As per TV Blackbox reports, sports presenter Tim, aged 63, is rumored to be planning retirement from the network following 13 years of service. It is suggested that he will pass on his evening sports news segment during Melbourne’s 6 pm broadcast.

Initially, it seemed like Rebecca Maddern was the likely candidate for the position; however, whispers suggest that Armstrong might also be considered for the top role.

Last month, Luke Darcy unintentionally revealed that his friend Tim was likely leaving, a subject much discussed in rumors, on his Triple M radio program. However, he didn’t know yet that Seven Network was trying to keep the move confidential.

‘I have some exciting news to share with you, and that is… AFL star turned radio host, Tim “Whispy” Watson, is planning to wrap up his time at the Seven Network.’

A short while later, he started to quickly defend himself when his colleagues questioned if he knew that his departure would be announced on their program.

Luke admitted, “It seems that was an informal chat not meant for broadcast. Let’s gloss over that instance… let’s just ignore it and focus on what comes next.

As a die-hard fan, I can hardly contain my excitement! In just a few short weeks, Neil Armstrong’s contract with ABC is rumored to be coming to an end. But here’s the kicker – insiders are suggesting that he might snag a coveted prime time hosting role with the network next year! Fingers crossed and heart racing, I can hardly wait to see what this legendary astronaut will bring to our screens!

Last month when Armstrong declared his departure from ABC News Breakfast, he revealed that he’ll be collaborating with the ABC on a fresh endeavor next year, yet he was tight-lipped about the specifics of this upcoming role.

As a die-hard fan bursting with excitement, I can barely contain myself! I’ve got this extraordinary revelation brewing for the new year, but I’m sworn to secrecy, it’s like Fort Knox-level confidentiality! It’s a mind-blowing project that’s been under wraps, and trust me, when the time comes, you won’t want to miss out!

Daily Mail Australia contacted Channel Seven and Armstrong’s representatives for comment.

On his final day at ABC News Breakfast, Armstrong faced a slight blemish when it was revealed that he had been providing voiceovers for the insurance company NRMA, a fact which contradicted the terms of his employment with the network.

On Media Watch, Janine Perrett unveiled that Armstrong has been lending his voice to NRMA Insurance commercials since July.

Media Watch’s temporary host found it shocking that Armstrong hadn’t obtained permission from the station for his new position.

According to the editorial policy of ABC, it doesn’t forbid high-profile presenters from engaging in external work, but such activities are viewed as having a significantly higher level of risk.

As a loyal adherent, I’d like to clarify that my recent voiceover work for Media Watch came about unbeknownst to the ABC. This situation stemmed from a misunderstanding I had with Tony regarding his external management.

The broadcaster stated that they were given a version of the rules for the outside projects, and everyone at ABC was reminded to adhere to these guidelines. Notably, Tony, who is highly valued by ABC, has their complete backing.

In simpler terms, after addressing the ongoing debate, the athlete later confessed that the past week had been quite unusual during his last appearance on ABC News Breakfast on Friday.

He conveyed a blend of emotions. His physical gestures hinted that he isn’t overly fond of discussing himself extensively, yet his profession requires him to be on camera. This is what he shared with the audience.

‘It’s been such a whirlwind three years. Believe it or not, I was nervous when I started.

‘It didn’t last long. But yeah, that wasn’t all that long ago. And yeah, News Breakfast has given me everything, really. It’s given me… It’s given me a joy ride!

I wouldn’t have reached this point where I can choose when to leave and move forward to what comes next, on my own accord.

I must admit, I haven’t quite figured out its specifics just yet… But I am incredibly grateful to every one of you who took the time to watch and to those who have offered such kind words during this past week, especially.

‘It’s been a funny old week. But yeah, people have been really, really nice to me.’
