Tony Armstrong announces surprise career move following Gold Logie nomination – after debuting his bold new look
As a lifestyle expert with a knack for recognizing potential, I am thoroughly impressed and genuinely excited about Tony Armstrong‘s career move into children’s literature. His decision to write George the Wizard, a picture book, showcases not only his creative prowess but also his dedication to storytelling that resonates with the young minds of today.
Popular ABC presenter Tony Armstrong has announced a major career move.
The 34-year-old Logie winner is set to release his first book next month.
Titled “George the Magician,” this is a charmingly illustrated storybook for kids, featuring a solitary sorcerer embarking on a quest to find companionship.
The television host created the new tome alongside illustrator Emma Sjaan Beukers.
On Friday, the former AFL star revealed that he was initially offered to write a book chronicling his football career; however, he chose to write a children’s book instead.
He playfully suggested that the difficulty level of his current project, set for release on September 25, might correspond to his own reading ability.
He added: ‘I love being in the world of the fantastic and being a bit silly,’ he adds.
Children’s literature often discards grammar rules even more, focusing instead on feelings and emotions. This aspect captivated me, and it seems the only barrier between you and immersion is your own hesitance.
Tony, who hails from New South Wales as a Gamilaroi man with great pride, expressed his intention not just to compose a football book, but more so to craft an Indigenous-driven narrative.
He clarified by saying, ‘Primarily, I believe that’s what they anticipated, and I prefer going against the flow (zigging) when others expect me to go with it (zagging).’
Tony Armstrong appeared nearly unchanged following his reveal of a fresh appearance on ABC News last week.
The Aussie sports presenter, who is known for his head of curls and signature moustache, appeared with a new short buzzcut.
Although he’s switched his haircut, the ex-AFL star decided to retain his distinctive mustache and beard.
The well-known Sydney Swans player recently graced ABC’s morning program to share insights about the latest sports news, a position he has maintained since 2020.
Last month, he was up for a highly respected award, the Gold Logie, due to his successful television career. However, it was TV veteran Larry Emdur who took home the victory instead.
Although he was a strong contender for the title of most popular presenter, the Bert Newton Award eventually went to Larry from The Morning Show, taking it home in a massive victory.
Previously, Tony’s co-host on ABC News Breakfast, Michael Rowland, jokingly remarked that Tony would have become unbearable if he had won the award.
In a playful manner, he quipped before the grand event, “If Tony ends up winning the Gold Logie, let’s just say he might become unbearably boastful.
‘His head may become unusually large, and he might be easily prompted to boast about his shiny prize.’
I don’t mind handling this matter each day, as I truly believe he deserves the greatest television award. This isn’t just an offhand comment,” he emphasized.
Tony made headlines this years after he was nominated for a Gold Logie.
The hunky star has already won two Logies: in 2022 he scored the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent and a year later took home the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter.
