Toni Storm has become the most important woman in All Elite Wrestling
As a long-time wrestling enthusiast with decades of watching under my belt, I can confidently say that Toni Storm‘s return to AEW Dynamite is a breath of fresh air for the women’s division. I’ve seen many talented wrestlers come and go, but few have managed to captivate an audience quite like Storm does. Her charisma, skill, and unique style are unparalleled, and her return couldn’t be more timely.
In the December 11 broadcast of AEW Dynamite, the former AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm made her comeback. When she initially joined the team in March 2022, fans recognized her as a significant acquisition. Since then, she has emerged as the key female talent and the one who brings the energy that the division has been missing recently.
As Mariah May triumphed over Mina Shirakawa in the grand finale, a familiar melody echoed through the arena. Unlike the grandiose “Timeless” spectacle Storm was known for, this time she stepped into the spotlight with her original punk persona. It had been four months since my last battle, and as I stood on the AEW stage, the raw emotions surged within me.
It appears that Toni Storm would significantly benefit the AEW Women’s Division, which has recently encountered some challenging periods of momentum. The recent trend has been particularly concerning following the enthusiasm generated by this group. Fans eagerly anticipate seeing more than one female competitor per episode of Dynamite, or even a Continental Classic event of their own, but such developments have yet to materialize. The arrival of Mercedes Mone has brought a positive impact, however, the way the women’s division is being managed remains largely unchanged despite impressive matches from her.
Is it likely that Storm can single-handedly transform that situation? It’s unlikely, but she certainly stirs up some intrigue at the forefront of the women’s division. Her storyline with Mariah May has been pivotal in the promotion. Fans anticipated a shift in their dynamics, but May’s vicious attacks on Storm and their match escalated tensions to an unprecedented level during May’s 109+ days as champion. A level not reached at any other time during her reign. Storm’s comeback rekindles the focus on this rivalry, and with her returning to her original appearance, there’s curiosity about what adjustments Storm is making to her character, given that has been a standout aspect of her recent stint.
Enthusiasts can look forward to Toni Storm making her comeback on AEW TV, a move that’s crucial for boosting the women’s division as it moves towards 2025. Fans and insiders alike recognized her potential when she re-entered the wrestling world two years ago, but the fervor surrounding her recent appearance on Dynamite and the anticipation of what lies ahead indicate that Toni Storm is currently AEW’s most significant female figure.
