Toni Collette shares surprise Dancing Queen moment at Muriel’s Wedding screening

Actress Toni Collette, famous for her role in “The Power,” unexpectedly danced to “Dancing Queen” during the premiere of her film “Muriel’s Wedding.

At the Glasgow Film Festival, the actor unexpectedly attended, much to the delight of fans eagerly waiting for a screening of the iconic 1994 movie. But instead of recording an introduction as planned, Collette opted to personally grace the event, participating in the enjoyment alongside spectators.

In an Instagram update, the celebrity posted a video showing her dancing to “Dancing Queen” by ABBA at a gathering. This tune was beloved by her character in the movie, and viewers were thrilled as they watched Collette perform and dance alongside the band.

She revealed in a caption that her unexpected appearance was due to a journey over 300 miles on various modes of public transportation, which she took to be present at the film screening.

She mentioned that she received an invitation to create a brief introduction video for the showing of “Muriel’s Wedding” at the Glasgow Film Festival this evening. However, she decided to catch a train from London and participate in the event itself instead!

Under the guidance of director P J Hogan, Muriel’s Wedding marked Collette’s groundbreaking debut as a young performer. This Australian film combines comedy and drama, narrating the tale of a socially awkward woman who is deeply enamored with the Swedish pop group ABBA. In her quest for love, Muriel decides to take charge when she departs from her small-town life, pursuing her dreams of matrimony.

Collette conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to the fans for their persistent affection towards the ’90s movie, by stating: “I never anticipated the amount of love that would fill that space. It was a love for Muriel, a love for the film, and a love for me. The experience was incredibly enjoyable, yet also quite touching.

At age twenty, I never imagined this story would still be relevant today. What a surprise! Thank you for inviting me. I’m deeply moved. [Hashtags: #Murielswedding, #GlasgowFilmFestival, #ILoveGlasgow] My dear friend @nick_haddow captured it all on video.
