Toni Braxton’s Shocking Secret Wedding and Divorce with Birdman Exposed!

Toni Braxton had some ups and downs in her love life last year that are only now being revealed.

It’s said that the 57-year-old musician quietly got married to her long-term partner, rapper Birdman, on August 8.

After a gap of two days, they decided to part ways. Two weeks subsequently, she initiated the divorce process through her legal representative, citing that the marriage had become ‘beyond repair’.

TMZ said they made the discovery this week when looking through Braxton’s county documents.

Later on, in an unexpected turn of events, the artist renowned for “Un-Break My Heart” withdrew the divorce petition that was filed in January 2025.

It’s unclear whether the two musicians, who remain legally married, have rekindled their romantic connection.

It’s possible he’s absent from her Instagram posts, suggesting they might not be a couple.

Toni and Birdman began their relationship in 2016, with periods of togetherness and separation lasting for about two years. They got engaged in February 2018, but later decided to end their engagement in 2019.

Early last year she denied that they had secretly tied the knot. 

In early 2024, Toni and Birdman weren’t a couple, which is why she expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of dating someone new.

She told People about her single life and her plans to start looking for a boyfriend.

She acknowledged that being single is pleasant, though she hasn’t experienced it herself just yet. However, she plans to soon as she has been preoccupied with this ongoing show.

She added: ‘I’m looking forward to getting out there and dating.’

However, Braxton also admitted that she is nervous to get back out on the dating scene again.

She also finds dating to be somewhat daunting. Before disclosing her preferences for the kind of person she’s seeking to date next, she added a brief explanation.

Regarding her dream companion, she mentioned they should be a kind individual, willing to spend entire days watching Lifetime channels with her at least once a week.

For more than ten years, from 2001 to 2013, the artist was previously wedded to the musician and songwriter Keri Lewis.

The exes share sons Diezel Ky and Denim Cole. 

Last year Braxton nearly had a heart attack and needed to have a stint fitted.

Two years following her sister Traci’s passing due to esophageal cancer in 2022 at age 50, the performer experienced a significant health issue. However, she hesitated to share this news with her loved ones out of concern for causing unnecessary worry.

On the debut episode of The Braxtons, Trina, aged 49, expressed: ‘True to Toni’s style, invited the family for dinner and had something to share with us, but the mood she set was quite somber this time. I’m genuinely concerned because Toni has had a recent health scare.’

As a lifestyle expert, I often find myself observing individuals like Toni, who tend to keep their emotions private. Unlike those who openly share their personal experiences, particularly their health matters, Toni prefers to maintain a more reserved approach towards her life.

Toni expressed: “I need to inform the girls about a health issue that’s been worrying me, as it reminds me of when Traci had her health scare, and I find myself feeling quite emotional about it.

Regarding Traci’s affairs, I find myself hesitant about sharing any updates, fearing it might stir up unnecessary concerns. The thought of saying, ‘Wondering if Toni is alright?’ crosses my mind but I’m unsure if that’s the best approach. Perhaps discretion is the better part of valor in this situation. I’m still trying to figure out the right course of action.

If it weren’t for the quick actions of the doctors, Toni would have experienced a type of severe heart attack known as a “widow-maker,” which could have proven fatal. Thankfully, they managed to intervene in time and save her life.

It occurs when a blood clot or deposit fully obstructs the left anterior descending (LAD) artery, which is one of the coronary arteries that supply the heart.

She shared: ‘If I had a heart attack I wouldn’t have survived, I wouldn’t be here right now.’

Overwhelmed with emotion, I found myself on the verge of tears as I shared, “Your loved ones assured me that your sister is looking out for you, and they’re absolutely correct. Miraculously, you shouldn’t be here today.

In a confessional, she said: ‘I had to have a stint put in my heart, which was extremely scary.

Hearing that the tour might no longer be an option due to potential heart issues, made the thought of the procedure even more daunting. Previously, such advice had been given, yet this time it felt distinctly ominous. The doctors suggested I might not be able to embark on another tour because of the risk of a heart attack.

Ever since, Toni is ‘scared every day’ that she could have a heart attack.

She confessed: “I’ve been dealing with an overwhelming amount of anxiety. It constantly preoccupies my thoughts… It’s distressing to live in fear every single day. In the event of a heart attack, I wouldn’t make it. This constant apprehension is more than I can bear.
