Tones and I reveals she miscarried hours before the biggest show of her career in heartbreaking post
As a dedicated follower and admirer of Tones and I, reading about her heartbreaking loss and resilience is both humbling and inspiring. It’s easy to forget that behind the glitz and glamour of stardom lies a human being, just like us, with dreams, fears, and experiences.
Tones and I has revealed she miscarried just hours before the biggest show of her career.
On a deeply emotional Instagram post shared on Tuesday, the artist behind Dance Monkey revealed some very private aspects of a tragedy that happened before her concert in Melbourne on November 9.
In an announcement, Toni Watson – otherwise known as Tones – disclosed that the unfortunate incident took place on the stage during the last rehearsal for her show, with around 30 choir members, 30 dancers, and approximately 50 crew present.
‘I was at the point of the show where I just hit the big note in “to be loved” the first song off my latest album, as I hit the big note I felt blood running down my legs, usually an awkward but manageable situation especially since this was a rehearsal and not a show, except.. I was 9 weeks pregnant,’ she wrote.
‘I was almost 100% I was having a miscarriage the night before the biggest show of my career.
As a devoted follower, By 8:30 pm, Jimmy Bedford and I had abandoned our rehearsals, and we found ourselves at the hospital. The discomfort began to intensify, and a sleepless night was followed by the distressing news that I was experiencing a miscarriage.
At 11am on the day of the performance, I learned that the show wouldn’t take place and I was required to stay home and rest instead. While I wholeheartedly respect my doctor’s advice, it’s impossible not to think about the creative team, the production crew, the dancers, the choir, and the fans who were looking forward to the event.
As a dedicated lifestyle guide, I recognized that I couldn’t disappoint everyone who was counting on me. Therefore, I made a commitment to return and set off, arriving at Rod Laver Arena just as the perfect moment presented itself – during my scheduled meet and greets, concluding the sound check, and on the cusp of the show.
‘Backstage, time seemed to blend together, but once I stepped onto the stage, it felt as if I was being borne along. This performance was unlike any other I’ve given; it was a unique experience that left me feeling uplifted. My family, both on and off stage, provided this unseen support, unaware of their role in my performance. I shared the secret with only three individuals that night, but the collective energy of everyone else became my driving force, propelling me through this memorable moment while simultaneously urging me not to miss out on this extraordinary show.’
She then revealed she received further care post-show.
‘After the show I went back to the hospital where the next morning the surgery was completed.’
Back in March, Tones and I left her fans astonished when she disclosed that she had secretly tied the knot with Bedford in a small ceremony held in beautiful Bali.
