Tommy Little moved to tears as he reads a heartbreaking letter of support from family who lost 21-month-old son to brain cancer
This past week, Tommy Little was overcome with emotion as he went through a letter penned by a family who had tragically lost their child due to brain cancer.
The 40-year-old comedian is preparing for the Big Five Marathon in South Africa, which takes place later this month, to collect funds for Carrie Bickmore’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer charity on Hit Network.
On a Friday, Tommy posted a heartfelt video on his Instagram reel, where he read a touching letter penned by Hugo’s parents, Ollie and Brooke, who tragically lost their son, Hugo, due to brain cancer at only 21 months old.
‘We’ll see how we go,’ Tommy began, already with tears in his eyes.
Hi Tommy,” he found in his mail. “I’m writing this letter to encourage you for your upcoming marathon. It takes a special kind of bravery and strength to willingly take on something challenging, especially when many of the people you’re helping are strangers. This quiet power resonates deeply within us.

The letter went on to say: ‘You’ll have company during the course – some will be obvious while others won’t – similar to families such as ours, and kids much like our dear Hugo.’
The letter proceeded: ‘On that course, you’ll find companions – some noticeable and others not – akin to families like ours, and youngsters reminiscent of our beloved Hugo.’
Tommy then held up a photo of little Hugo, adding: ‘This is why I’m already crying.’
Afterward, Ollie and Brooke shared how devastating it was for them when Hugo, only ten months old, received a diagnosis of brain cancer.
Tommy went on reading, his eyes filling with tears as he explained, ‘For the initial part of his life, Hugo was confined to the hospital due to a treatment that offered him only a 10% chance of reaching his fifth birthday.’
At the tender age of 21 months, he sadly left us behind. However, throughout his life, he demonstrated to us that every single day, simply having a beating heart, an active body, and legs capable of taking steps, is a precious gift.
Afterward, Ollie and Brooke expressed their hope that Hugo might inspire Tommy as he prepared for his upcoming task.
In tough times, when your legs ache, when self-doubt surfaces, may Hugo serve as the motivating force propelling you forward.
‘When Hugo runs, he feels deeply connected to the earth. We hope that, as you run through South Africa, you too can experience this strong bond with our planet.’

Tommy was significantly touched by the heartfelt and passionate letter, indicating that Hugo would undoubtedly accompany him on his trip to South Africa.
‘I’ll carry Hugo with me on the run,’ he said.
If I reach a stage where I feel as though every muscle in my legs could snap, I’ll continue running with the hope that it will help prevent such lengthy correspondence from happening again.
Afterwards, Tommy turned to Ollie and Brooke specifically, expressing sincere sympathies and asking his 315,000 fans to contribute generously to this worthy charity instead.
He expressed that current prices are high and life is difficult, adding, ‘This is truly heart-wrenching.’
The emotional post was met with an outpouring of support from Tommy’s friends, fans and followers.
Guy Sebastian, the singer, commended them by saying, “What a fantastic job you’re all doing! You’re making such a positive difference, kudos to you, Tommy and your team.
Olympic swimmer Alicia Coutts expressed, ‘I wish you success, Tommy, for your marathon. I made a donation in remembrance of the lovely child, Hugo.’

Many people felt the same way as another follower, acknowledging that Hugo’s tale left them in tears.
When Hugo’s parents mentioned that Hugo could serve as a gust of wind to help you along, Tommy, I was quite moved by their words,” they expressed.
Tomorrow, Carrie Bickmore will team up with Tommy as they run the challenging half marathon across the Entabeni private game reserve in South Africa.
In the competition, the pair known as “The Carrie and Tommy Show” team will be running alongside individuals such as Ellidy Pullin, Olivia Molly Rogers, Sam Wood, Laura Enever, Trent Cotchin, and Merrick Watts.
Tommy just shared that he’s quit using e-cigarettes and has set an objective to lose 22 pounds before his major race.
Tommy uploaded a video on Instagram of him going for a run, mentioning that he has seven weeks to prepare for his upcoming run, as he’s been feeling a bit rounder since his last marathon and wants to shape up for the cause.
The Big Five Marathon in South Africa is only seven weeks away, and a popular radio personality shared that he recently ran 13.3 kilometers, but not fast as he described himself as a ‘plump’ individual.
This week, I stepped on the scale and found I weigh 86 kilograms. That may not seem like a lot, but when I was running a marathon, I weighed only 70 kilograms. Therefore, I’m currently 16 kilograms heavier than my weight back then when I was running.
Tommy wrote in his video’s caption, “I aim to shed approximately 10 kilograms over the next seven weeks and put in some serious effort. If anyone is interested in joining me, they are most welcome.
