Tommy Fury’s promise to ditch booze won back Molly-Mae. That’s why I must warn her about the ’embarrassing’ behaviour showbiz insiders keep ringing me about, says MOLLY CLAYTON

After Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury got back together earlier this year, Tommy agreed to address his drinking.

Let’s clear up some confusion I’ve been seeing online. There’s been a lot of talk about infidelity surrounding the split between Tommy and his partner back in August 2024, but Tommy himself has been very open about the real issue. It wasn’t cheating, but rather his struggles with alcohol that ultimately led to their breakup. He’s really taking responsibility for his part in things, and it’s a tough but honest admission.

Tommy recently shared with Men’s Health that his struggle with alcohol led to the end of his relationship. He explained he wasn’t able to be the partner he wanted to be while dealing with this issue.

It’s hard to admit, but I had to stop drinking beer. I used to really enjoy it, but I realized alcohol wasn’t good for me.

It’s important to take control of the situation. If you believe alcohol will solve everything, it won’t. It actually makes things worse, leading to a desire to drink even more, hoping to feel better. That’s how the pattern continues, but I’ve managed to break free from it now.

Despite efforts to change his ways, people at the premiere of Tommy’s new BBC documentary in August reported that he still enjoys drinking. Several attendees at the event, held at the Printworks nightclub in Manchester, said he appeared increasingly tired and affected by alcohol as the night went on.

Guests said he was drinking beer and being loud and boisterous – embarrassingly so.

Someone commented that Tommy appeared very intoxicated at the BBC premiere, which was awkward. Many people wondered why he wasn’t sober for the event.

He did the same thing as last year: he’d show up to events, drink all the alcohol, and leave as soon as he had the pictures he needed for Instagram.

A representative for Tommy stated that the boxer had just two beers over four hours and was not drunk.

I was seriously scanning the crowd, and honestly, my heart dropped when I didn’t see Molly-Mae anywhere! Everyone’s been talking about her and Tommy ever since they posted those breakup announcements on Instagram back in August. It’s just… shocking. I mean, they seemed so perfect together, especially after getting engaged last year – can you believe it’s only been a year since that?! They met on Love Island way back in 2019, and I really thought they’d last forever. It’s just so sad to see, and I’m desperately trying to figure out what happened!

Despite recently reconciling, Molly didn’t attend Tommy’s film premiere. Representatives for the couple explained that she wanted Tommy to enjoy his moment and didn’t want to distract from it. Another spokesperson added that Molly was working at the time.

Instead, Tommy was supported by his father John and mother Chantal as well as his brother Roman.

Maybe it was for the best that Molly wasn’t around. In her docuseries, ‘Behind It All,’ which premiered on Amazon Prime in January and is getting a second season, Molly discussed how alcohol impacted their relationship.

‘I feel really traumatised by the last couple of months,’ she told her mother Debbie on the show.

Alcohol created a lot of difficulties in our lives. It reached the point where I stopped enjoying things, because alcohol had such a negative impact on everything.

Molly’s mother admitted she could only think of a few times her partner had drunk alcohol without things going badly. Molly then explained that she couldn’t recall any such instances, and that this was the reason her own relationship with alcohol was strained.

Before they separated, the couple was discussing starring in a reality show together on Prime Video. However, after the breakup, Molly ended up with the deal. Following its release, the BBC announced a documentary about Tommy, titled ‘Tommy: The Good. The Bad. The Fury,’ which focuses on his attempts to rebuild his life.

In the documentary, Tommy admitted that he struggled with alcohol. He revealed he used to drink heavily – around twenty shots and twenty beers each day – and often drank to the point of losing consciousness. He believes this addiction made him a poor partner to Molly.

He confessed that he was incredibly drunk and had no memory of the day his wife, Molly, and their two-year-old daughter, Bambi, left him last summer.

Tommy’s father explained to the cameras that, having experience with his half-brother Tyson (a champion boxer), he had a bad feeling when he noticed Tommy starting to drink. He didn’t want to be involved with someone who wasn’t taking things seriously and advised Molly to leave the situation.

‘Because if he’s not going to change himself, he doesn’t think that much of you.’

The documentary followed Tommy’s efforts to address his issues with alcohol, but he was still seen with a beer at the premiere. Guests included Kaz Crossley, a former contestant on Love Island, footballer Phil Foden, and bodybuilder Eddie Hall. Interestingly, Molly recently shared a trailer for the second series of her show, Behind It All, which included emotional moments where she expressed uncertainty about her future now that she and Tommy have gotten back together.

‘Tommy and I, we’re back together – but I never know what tomorrow is going to bring,’ she said.

Let’s just hope Tommy doesn’t fall back into his party boy ways.
