Tom Holland Talks Matt Damon’s ‘Words of Wisdom’ on The Odyssey Set

I was really fascinated to hear Tom Holland talk about his experience filming The Odyssey. He shared some great stories, especially about working with Matt Damon. Apparently, Damon gave him some really solid advice on set, and you can tell Holland really took it to heart. It’s cool to see those kinds of mentorship moments!

Tom Holland talks about the advice he got from Matt Damon

I recently read an interview with Tom Holland in GQ, and he talked about his new movie! He’s working with Matt Damon, and it sounds like they really built a great working relationship on set. Tom plays Telemachus, which is awesome because he’s playing Matt Damon’s son in the film – Odysseus’ son, actually. He said that father-son dynamic definitely came through while they were filming, which is really cool.

They worked closely together for many hours, giving him a good look at how Damon operated. He consistently described Damon as having a strong work ethic. Holland explained, “We spent a lot of time together, and I’m thankful Matt turned out exactly as I’d hoped – a true leader.”

He added that the movie was incredibly challenging, and Matt gave it his all. He consistently showed up to set with a positive attitude, treating the crew with kindness and grace. He really established a great working atmosphere for the entire production.

He shared that Matt Damon offered him valuable advice, some of which he’s keeping private. He also learned a great deal simply by observing Damon’s skill and work ethic on set.

Okay, let me tell you about this movie. Christopher Nolan really swung for the fences with his adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey. It’s a massive production, and you can feel that scale on screen. Plus, the cast is packed with A-list actors – it’s a seriously impressive ensemble.

The film also stars Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Elliot Page, Mia Goth, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, and Robert Pattinson. It’s set to come out on July 17, 2026.
