Tom Hiddleston’s biopic on country musician Hank Williams has found a new streaming home in the UK.
In this film, the British actor portrays an American role, depicting the famous country pioneer who composed timeless tunes such as the title track that lends the movie its name, along with other well-known numbers like ‘Your Cheatin’ Heart’ and ‘Hey, Good Lookin”.
The 2015 film, scripted and helmed by Marc Abraham based on a biography of a renowned singer, features Elizabeth Olsen – Hiddleston’s fellow Marvel actor – portraying the role of Hank’s wife, musical partner, and manager Audrey Sheppard Williams.
The movie “I Saw the Light” is set to play on BBC Two during the early morning of August 17th (Sunday). If you’re unable to watch it at 00:15am, don’t worry! You can still catch up with the film later on BBC iPlayer. The movie will be accessible there after it has been televised.

It’s worth noting that the movie, titled “I Saw the Light,” hasn’t received much positive feedback from critics so far. In fact, it has a low rating of 19% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics generally commending the talented cast but expressing doubts about the quality of the film’s screenplay.
According to the Rolling Stone, even an acting powerhouse like Tom Hiddleston, known for his singing and drinking roles, couldn’t rescue this lukewarm Hank Williams biopic from its own mediocrity. Similarly, NME commended the compelling performances but harshly criticized the film as a dull failure, arguing that it only presents one side of the story without any depth or complexity.

Elsewhere, Fresh Fiction remarked that it seemed as if the work was pieced together from discarded movie scenes, making it dull and devoid of emotion.
If you’re an ardent admirer of Hiddleston and Olsen, or if you typically disregard unfavorable criticisms, feel free to check it out for yourself this coming Sunday evening.
The movie “I Saw the Light” is scheduled to broadcast on BBC Two at 12:15 a.m. this coming Sunday, the 17th of August. Following its airing, you’ll be able to stream it on iPlayer.
