As a seasoned gamer and film enthusiast with a soft spot for sci-fi and Stephen King adaptations, I’m thrilled about the upcoming release of Tom Hiddleston and Karen Gillan’s movie, “The Life of Chuck.” Having played countless video games where time manipulation is key, I can’t help but feel a sense of intrigue with this film’s unique narrative structure.
Tom Hiddleston and Karen Gillan’s new movie The Life of Chuck has received an exciting update.
Following its triumph at the Toronto International Film Festival this past month, claiming the People’s Choice Award, the film is due for a US cinema debut next summer. As of now, a release date in the UK remains unannounced (according to Deadline).
The sci-fi drama is an adaptation of a short story by Stephen King, and it follows the life of Charles Krantz, portrayed by Hiddleston, who suffered a heartbreaking death at the young age of 39 due to a brain tumor.
The movie divides into three separate segments narrated in reverse timeline. It starts with the character’s demise and moves backward through his life, culminating in his upbringing within a house rumored to be haunted.

Amidst the confusion, numerous billboards proudly announce Charles ‘Chuck’ Krantz, who has been a valuable guide for 39 years, according to the movie’s official summary.
In town, no one seems to recognize him, nor do they know if he could possibly provide solutions amidst the chaos that surrounds them.
The movie titled “The Life of Chuck” is created by Mike Flanagan, who has previously directed the 2019 horror film “Doctor Sleep“, a spin-off from Stephen King’s classic novel “The Shining“.
Additionally, the cast includes Chiwetel Ejiofor from Doctor Strange, Mark Hamill known for Star Wars, Matthew Lillard famed in Scream, David Dastmalchian of Oppenheimer, and Jacob Tremblay recognized in The Little Mermaid.

The movie is currently earning a commendable 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 37 critic’s reviews. Critics have generally admired the film, with many expressing appreciation for its “highly recognizable anxieties” and “sincere portrayal of the intricate realms”.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Flanagan shared that he often sought King’s approval throughout the filmmaking process.
During the preparation for “The Life of Chuck“, there was extensive discussion between us prior to filming. He holds a significant level of approval over aspects such as casting and various details, as he clarified.
When the movie ends, he keeps his distance. He declares, “‘The movie belongs to you, but the book is mine.’
The upcoming movie, “Chuck’s Life,” is scheduled for a U.S. theater release this coming summer. As of now, the release date for the United Kingdom remains undetermined.
