Tom Hardy’s London-set crime drama film Legend has found itself a new streaming home in the UK.
2015’s movie showcases Hardy playing the roles of both the Kray brothers, Ronnie and Reggie, who held a powerful grip on London’s criminal scene during the lively 60s using their iron fists.
As I find myself in this tricky situation, it’s clear that Superintendent Nipper Read is relentless in his pursuit to apprehend me. Meanwhile, Ronnie’s unease is looming large, potentially leading us all towards an unexpected collapse.

Besides featuring Hardy, the movie also showcases a talented ensemble consisting of Christopher Eccleston, Tara Egerton, Colin Morgan, David Thewlis, Emily Browning, and the popular singer Duffy as well.
Following its broadcast on BBC One this past weekend, you can now stream the movie on iPlayer. However, it will only be available until 28 days from now.

If you haven’t purchased a TV license but do subscribe to Amazon Prime Video, you can still watch the movie on that platform.
The critical reception towards the movie was divided, with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 60%, based on 171 reviews from critics.
Among many opinions shared in the reviews, there seems to be a consensus that the film encounters several problems, yet it benefits significantly from Tom Hardy’s exceptional portrayal in twin roles.

In the criminal biography “Legend”, Tom Hardy’s performance is so captivating that it almost overshadows itself, making for an enthralling watch. It serves as a powerful demonstration of how exceptional acting can rise above a movie’s flaws. (Toronto Star)
The Detroit News commented that the script seems to loop endlessly and becomes reminiscent of a labyrinthine hall of mirrors. However, they emphasized that Hardy’s exceptional performances manage to pierce through this muddle with sheer electricity.
In simpler terms, Mark Kermode from The Observer described “Legend” as a lively, exaggerated production that enjoys being associated with the strange and iconic status of its subjects. He also mentioned that the movie is somewhat absurd yet still amusing and enjoyable.
Legend is available to stream now on BBC iPlayer and Prime Video.
