Tom Hardy offers to pay wages of entire set building crew on new Guy Ritchie series after construction company went into liquidation
As a die-hard fan who has watched Tom Hardy transform from a charismatic thug to a menacing villain, I can say with absolute certainty that this man is not just an actor but a real-life superhero. The recent news about him stepping up to pay the wages of an entire TV set crew left me in awe and filled with admiration for his kindness and generosity.
On the latest Guy Ritchie television series, actor Tom Hardy generously agreed to cover the salaries of the entire production team, following the financial collapse of a key construction company.
47-year-old Tom Hardy, famously known as “The Venom” star, has recently shot scenes for Guy Ritchie’s upcoming television show titled “The Associate,” within the city of London.
Approximately 50 independent construction workers suffered a significant setback when Helix 3D, the company responsible for building the sets, unfortunately collapsed, as The Times detailed.
In a heartbreaking turn of events for our dedicated team, it appears that the company decided against the early distribution of £250,000 worth of wages prior to Christmas as previously anticipated. Just last week, our esteemed CEO, Brian Dowling, delivered the disappointing news that our pay might not reach our accounts before ringing in the New Year.
Only after actor Tom intervened by agreeing to cover the wages did Paramount manage to resolve the issue, and they began issuing the workers their paychecks.
According to a source familiar with the matter, Tom proposed to cover the expenses, but the production team and Paramount Studio have already handled the payment.
In response, a representative from Paramount expressed strong displeasure about the current state of affairs, assuring that necessary measures would be taken to ensure that the workers received their due compensation.
In a letter obtained by the publication, representative Chris Hudson of the broadcasting union Bectu stated that their team members should be accorded with dignity and respect, and promptly paid for their contributions.
It’s completely intolerable that they’re struggling with severe financial instability, especially given the upcoming holiday season of Christmas.
As Christmas approaches, our members are understandably worried, with several concerned that they won’t be able to afford essentials.
In photos taken during the series production in London, the team ensured that Tom’s appearance, including his makeup and costumes, was flawless before giving the signal to start filming, given his reputation for striking good looks.
Before the scene, director Guy quickly moved towards his leading actor for a conversation, offering last-minute suggestions and guidance.
In this new project, the Director teams up with the actor from Venom for a second time, having previously joined forces in the 2008 crime thriller titled RocknRolla.
Additionally, Tom will serve as an executive producer for the Paramount+ series, joining forces with Guy, Jez Butterworth, and Kris Thykier in this role.
Apart from Tom, the illustrious cast boasts Academy Award winner Helen Mirren and ex-James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan as well.
As a die-hard enthusiast, I can’t help but be captivated by the dynamic duo portraying the powerhouse couple, Maeve and Conrad Harrigan. This formidable on-screen pairing masterfully leads one of London’s most influential Irish crime families, all while maintaining an aura of sophistication that makes their storyline simply irresistible.
In this role, Tom portrays Harry da Souza, a risky troubleshooter who stands ready to assist the Harrigans in resolving any issues they encounter.
The synopsis of the show describes it as the story of ‘two warring families based in London whose enterprises stretch all corners of the globe and the fiercely loyal “fixer” charged with protecting one of them at all costs.’
Nonetheless, the initial phase has faced some difficulties as the London set was targeted by thieves not once but twice within a week, allegedly stealing equipment valued at approximately £1 million.
The first robbery took place last week, while production crew and security were on site, as two men in Toyota Prius supposedly distracted people by asking for directions before speeding off with the expensive equipment.
According to the source, when discussing the event with The Sun, they mentioned: ‘The queries they made drew attention away, and at that instant, another individual suddenly snatched a bag filled with camera gear that was situated by the roadside.’
He quickly got back into the vehicle, and they swiftly drove away. The security personnel became agitated as they had been apparently targeted in a robbery during daytime hours, causing quite a stir.
‘It was pretty embarrassing and a costly mistake. The kit on those films isn’t cheap.’
