Tom Hardy clears up Pride & Prejudice audition rumour: “You just aren’t it”
Tom Hardy has cleared up the rumour that he auditioned for Pride & Prejudice.
The actor known for playing roles in “The Dark Knight Rises” and “Venom” was often speculated to be among the top choices to portray Mr. Darcy in the 2005 movie adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel, alongside Keira Knightley.
During the promotional period of the Netflix movie “Havoc”, Hardy had a conversation with VT, the charity Thin Blue Paw, and some incredibly cute former police dogs to debunk the showbiz rumor once and for all.

He admitted he never received an audition for the role. Instead, a kind producer informed him directly that there is a specific image or concept of Mr. Darcy in the minds of all women, and unfortunately, he doesn’t fit that description.
“That’s showbiz,” he added with a devilish laugh.
In the given role for that particular adaptation, it was undoubtedly Matthew Macfadyen who secured it. Interestingly enough, he confessed last year that he had felt somewhat out of place in the part of Mr. Darcy, acknowledging his own reservations about the casting.
He expressed, “It’s hard for me to admit this, but there were instances where I had fun. However, I can’t help but feel I could have experienced it with more joy. I wish I hadn’t been so anxious about it.
“I felt a bit miscast, like, ‘I’m not dishy enough’. But it worked out.”
Currently, Hardy’s latest movie titled “Havoc” is now available on Netflix (no more spoilers about the ending), and we found it quite enjoyable.
As a gamer, I can’t help but be blown away by this game – it’s packed with stunning visual effects, intense combat sequences that are nothing short of breathtaking, and just the right amount of action-packed violence. It’s an all-out spectacle that you’d think is best enjoyed on a big screen, but surprisingly, it holds its own even on smaller screens. So whether you’re at home or on the go, this game delivers an unforgettable experience!
Havoc is available now on Netflix, as is the 2005 Pride & Prejudice.
