Tom Felton and Daniel Radcliffe reunited to celebrate Radcliffe’s new Broadway show on Wednesday night, with Felton sharing heartwarming photos of the event.
As a lifestyle observer, I’m always fascinated by what people are up to! Right now, I’m keeping an eye on Daniel, who’s 36 and absolutely shining in ‘Every Brilliant Thing’ on Broadway. And his counterpart, Tom – he’s 38 and doing fantastic work in ‘The Cursed Child’ over here in the States. It’s wonderful to see these talented guys thriving in the theatre world!
Daniel, who famously played Harry Potter from 2001 to 2011, looked thrilled while hugging Tom, who played the villainous Draco Malfoy in the films.
Tom saw Daniel’s new play and then shared some pictures of the two of them together. He also posted an older photo of them from when they were both in movies.
The star penned in the caption: ‘Broomsticks to Broadway @brilliantbway @cursedchildus.’
Despite disagreeing publicly about J.K. Rowling’s controversial statements regarding transgender people, the two have continued to maintain a good friendship.
Daniel and Tom have publicly disagreed since Daniel criticized and Tom defended JK Rowling’s stance on gender identity. Rowling, 60, has been outspoken about her belief that a person’s gender is determined at birth.
In 2020, Daniel, along with many other actors from the Harry Potter films, publicly criticized the author’s views on transgender people. However, Tom has continued to support JK Rowling, stating he isn’t influenced by her opinions.
J.K. Rowling’s views on transgender rights have sparked controversy globally, and she’s been labeled a “trans-exclusionary radical feminist,” or TERF, as a result.
In 2020, Daniel Radcliffe publicly affirmed through The Trevor Project that transgender women are women, emphasizing that denying this truth disrespects and invalidates transgender people’s identities.
Tom has continued to support JK and has been careful not to publicly share his opinions on her views, which has allowed him to stay involved with the franchise.
The two are reconnecting after Daniel recently talked about seeing pictures of the actors cast in the new Harry Potter TV series – a series that’s coming out over ten years after he became famous for playing Harry Potter.
Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout will play Ron Weasley in the upcoming HBO series.
Daniel reacted to the photos revealing the new actors who will be playing the popular characters in the series, which is expected to come out in early 2027.
He shared what some of his former colleagues, including Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, experienced growing up in the spotlight, and their desire to shield younger actors from its pressures.
‘We have all said, you know, you just see pictures of these kids and you just want to grab them and hug them,’ he told People. ‘That’s the impulse that I think that we, mainly, all have.’
He said he’s been talking with Rupert and Emma, and the three of them have discussed the upcoming TV series, which will adapt each of J.K. Rowling’s books over seven seasons.
He mentioned that he and his old colleagues often talk about how strange it feels to see new actors beginning their careers on the same show, so many years after they themselves started.
As a lifestyle observer, I always find it fascinating to see young talent grow up before our eyes. This particular actor began his journey with the very first film in a hugely popular series when he was just eleven years old! He played the same character for ten incredible years, and finally finished filming the last movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, at the age of twenty-one. It’s a remarkable example of growing up in the public eye.
