Tom Cruise’s Stunt that Left Him Passed Out: Not for Top Gun 2!

In the course of performing a stunt for a film, Tom Cruise actually fainted, not when piloting a P-51 aircraft as part of Top Gun: Maverick.

Rather than thriving with an ample supply during the airplane acrobatics for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, set to release on May 23, 2025, the star instead grappled with oxygen scarcity.

The 62-year-old actor reprises his role as Ethan Hunt in the latest movie in the action franchise.

In order to execute the death-defying stunts that are iconic to the movie franchise, Katie Holmes’ former partner went to great lengths physically.

As I lean out of an aircraft flying at speeds around 120-130 mph, I can attest that the rush doesn’t include a supply of oxygen.

I needed to learn proper breathing techniques because there were instances when I fainted. This made it impossible for me to return to the cockpit.

In past Mission: Impossible films, Tom Cruise has scaled the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and hung onto the roof of a speeding train. However, director Christopher McQuarrie shared that a scene in the upcoming movie, slated for release in May, was so intense it made him feel nauseous with anxiety.

The 56-year-old filmmaker said: ‘There are stunts in this movie that will melt your brain.

On any given day in Africa, Tom will step outside and accomplish something extraordinary, surpassing anything he’s achieved before.

Discussions suggest that Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning might mark the end of the extended series, but Cruise remains silent about it.

The actor from Top Gun stated: “It’s essential to watch the film. At present, it’s difficult for me to delve into details, as it’s an encounter that needs to be lived personally.

McQuarrie hinted at being secretive about the topic, yet assured us that the upcoming film will cover Tom Cruise’s entire portrayal of Ethan Hunt.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but express my anticipation for what appears to be a fulfilling finale to a 30-year narrative journey. I am quite certain that the audience will find the chosen title fitting and apt once they witness this conclusion unfold.

During a movie screening, McQuarrie disclosed that an audience member came close to experiencing a heart attack due to the excitement triggered by one of the film’s thrilling action scenes.

He mentioned that during the brief viewing, someone expressed, “I felt like I was struggling to breathe throughout the whole scene. I thought I might have a cardiac arrest.

‘And I thought, “I guess we did something right.”‘

As a devoted follower, I’m thrilled to share that the director of Jack Reacher has guaranteed an exciting prospect for us fans: the eighth installment in the franchise will offer a deeper exploration of characters like Grace (portrayed by Hayley Atwell), Degas (Greg Tarzan Davis), and Paris (Pom Klementieff).

He remarked: ‘Unexpected alliances emerge when we face the end of the world. I can hardly wait for people to witness the transformation of Paris, Degas, and Grace.’

McQuarrie expressed a preference for avoiding stereotypes, ensuring characters aren’t solely defined as tech experts or action heroes in his films.

The director responsible for four films in the series commented: ‘Mission seems to have a life of its own. When you aim for a specific character trait, you might be let down. But if you approach it indirectly, the movie will surprise you, and you’ll end up doing things you didn’t anticipate.’
