Tom Cruise’s Daring Underwater Stunt in Mission: Impossible 8 Will Leave You Breathless!

In a fresh analysis of the newly released sequel, it’s apparent that Tom Cruise played a crucial role in creating a massive impact at the box office, as he even went so far as to immerse himself – literally – for executing an impressive underwater scene, one of his most visually striking stunts thus far.

In The Final Reckoning, Paramount revealed an exhilarating clip featuring Tom Cruise in a pulse-pounding underwater scene. In this part of the story, Cruise’s character is submerged inside a sunken Russian submarine called the Sevastopol, deep beneath the ocean. His mission: to track down an AI antagonist known as The Entity. The clip captures Cruise donning a heavy diving suit (125 pounds) while the water within the submarine rises around him. Struggling to catch his breath and surveying his surroundings, Cruise’s character highlights the dangerous intensity of this sequence.

In the past, Tom Cruise has submerged himself underwater during a Mission: Impossible movie, specifically in Rogue Nation. But the scene from The Final Reckoning was particularly demanding because he could only wear the suit for ten minutes at a time to avoid hypoxia. During this stunt, which took place inside a massive 8.5-million-liter water tank, Cruise came close to suffocating as he continually tested his limits during each interval.

The Final Reckoning Puts Cruise Through the Wringer (And Is Reaping the Rewards)

Throughout the Mission: Impossible movie franchise, Cruise has performed numerous extraordinary feats, such as climbing tall structures worldwide, racing bikes off cliffs, and even engaging in fights while on a moving train. However, The Final Reckoning might showcase Cruise’s most mind-boggling sequences yet. This is because he not only battles for survival underwater but also hangs onto the wing of an airplane flying at 8,000 feet and 150 mph without any computer-generated imagery (CGI). Performing that plane stunt was particularly challenging for Cruise.

The thrilling sequel, “The Final Reckoning,” picks up right where “Dead Reckoning” left off, as Hunt and his IMF unit pursue the enigmatic Entity and its associate, Gabriel (Esai Morales). This highly-acclaimed follow-up, praised by 80% of critics and 90% of audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, broke the franchise record in its opening weekend domestically and has grossed over $200 million worldwide. In a public statement shared across his social media platforms.

In the movie “The Final Reckoning,” Cruise shares the screen with an illustrious ensemble including Simon Pegg, Hayley Atwell, Angela Bassett, Henry Czerny, Hannah Waddingham, Vanessa Kirby, Ving Rhames, Nick Offerman, and Pom Klementieff. This film, led by a renowned director, was produced on a franchise-topping budget of $400 million; industry sources suggest it must earn double that amount at the box office to achieve profitability.

is now showing in theaters across North America.
