In The Final Reckoning, Paramount revealed an exhilarating clip featuring Tom Cruise in a pulse-pounding underwater scene. In this part of the story, Cruise’s character is submerged inside a sunken Russian submarine called the Sevastopol, deep beneath the ocean. His mission: to track down an AI antagonist known as The Entity. The clip captures Cruise donning a heavy diving suit (125 pounds) while the water within the submarine rises around him. Struggling to catch his breath and surveying his surroundings, Cruise’s character highlights the dangerous intensity of this sequence.

In the past, Tom Cruise has submerged himself underwater during a Mission: Impossible movie, specifically in Rogue Nation. But the scene from The Final Reckoning was particularly demanding because he could only wear the suit for ten minutes at a time to avoid hypoxia. During this stunt, which took place inside a massive 8.5-million-liter water tank, Cruise came close to suffocating as he continually tested his limits during each interval.
