DONUTS GAMES is creating a new mobile game called Girls Band Cry: First Riff for both Android and iOS devices. The game is inspired by the popular Girls Band Cry anime and is being developed in collaboration with Toei Animation. The game’s genre hasn’t been announced yet.

Get ready for more fun experiences as the series expands with games and films

Girls Band Cry: First Riff is inspired by the anime series that aired in Japan from April to June 2024, consisting of 13 episodes. The story centers around Nina Iseri, a girl who left high school, and her friendship with Momoka. Together, they connect through music and decide to start a band with other girls.

I wasn’t initially a huge fan of the anime, but this news definitely caught my interest. While the game’s genre hasn’t been revealed yet, I think a rhythm game makes the most sense, given how important music is to the series. I think it would be really enjoyable to play through the anime’s songs.

Players attending TGS 2025 will get a first look at both the mobile and PC titles

Toei Animation announced a brand new movie alongside the game, and they’re also working on two compilation films. This all suggests Toei is really committed to building a long-term future for the series, and it’s definitely making me more interested!

We’re still waiting for updates on the mobile game, but we have some exciting news: Momoka (o) Wasshoi is coming to PC on September 28th!
