I was so saddened to hear that Todd Meadows, one of the guys from “Deadliest Catch,” has passed away. He was only 25, and it’s just really heartbreaking news for all of us who watched him on the show.
Rick Shelford, captain of the Aleutian Lady, shared the news on Facebook and Instagram that Meadows passed away on February 25th. He described it as the saddest day ever for the Aleutian Lady and its crew on the Bering Sea.
In a heartfelt tribute, Shelford shared the news of their brother’s passing. They described Todd, the newest addition to their team, as quickly becoming like family. Everyone admired his dedication to work and his passion for fishing. They will always remember his infectious smile and the joyful sound of his laughter echoing throughout the boat.
He was a hardworking, loving person who brightened the lives of everyone he knew. Todd will always be remembered as a cherished member of our team and our close-knit group. While his loss is deeply felt, his spirit will continue to live on through his children and in all of our memories.
World & Nation
The death of Alaska fisherman Phil Harris, of ‘Deadliest Catch,’ is met with tributes.
A fundraising page described Jacob Meadows, a deckhand from Montesano, Washington, as a father of three young sons. He tragically died while crabbing in Alaska, doing the job he was passionate about.
Mark Meadows passed away after falling into the ocean about 170 miles north of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, according to the Associated Press.
According to Coast Guard spokesperson Chief Petty Officer Travis Magee, the sailor was found unconscious by the crew about ten minutes after the incident. The Coast Guard is currently investigating what happened.
I was really saddened to hear about Joshua Meadows. He was a new addition to the crew of “Deadliest Catch,” that incredible Discovery Channel show about crab fishing in the Bering Sea. It’s been running since 2005, and I always marvel at the bravery of those fishermen. Sadly, the season he was filming hasn’t actually aired yet, which is just a terrible shame.
Entertainment & Arts
Eric Dane, the actor famous for playing Dr. Mark Sloan – nicknamed ‘McSteamy’ – on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, has passed away at the age of 53 after a fight with ALS.
According to Deadline, the show was filming its 22nd season when the incident happened. The Aleutian Lady, captained by Shelby Shelford, was the last boat still fishing at the time. Production has now finished, the publication reports.
Discovery Channel confirmed the heartbreaking death of Todd Meadows in a public statement. They expressed deep sorrow over the loss, offering condolences to his family, fellow crew members, and everyone in the fishing world during this challenging period.
Sadly, Blake Meadows is the most recent member of the “Deadliest Catch” family to pass away. Previously, Phil Harris, a ship captain on the show, died in 2010 from a stroke during filming. In 2021, crew member Todd Kochutin died from injuries sustained while working on the Patricia Lee, as reported in his obituary. Other individuals connected to the show have also died due to substance abuse or natural causes.
