As someone who has been following Samantha Armytage’s career for quite some time now, I must say her recent return to breakfast TV on Channel Nine’s Today is nothing short of intriguing. It’s like watching an old friend rekindle their passion for something they once loved dearly.

The 48-year-old former Sunrise star made her debut on Nine’s Today to a mixed response on Monday.

However, certain supporters argue that the ex-Seven star might revitalize the ratings of Channel Nine’s show, which often lags behind Sunrise.

It’s quite clear that the program requires assistance. Her strongest performances were during Weekend Sunrise. Having her appear two days a week seems to be just the right balance, as stated further.

Still, another viewer appeared to be sceptical about a permanent return to brekkie TV for Sam.

Nine’s TV head suggested this move to have Sam fill-in because he’s a fan and wants more opportunities for him, as indicated in their message.

To clarify, I’m not implying they aim to disrupt the successful duo, even though they trail in the rankings. Nor am I suggesting that Sam harbors any particular interest in this matter.

In October, Sam grabbed the spotlight after the news broke that she would be hosting the Bachelor spin-off show, The Golden Bachelor, on Nine.

However, her presence co-hosting on Monday’s Today Show as a temporary replacement during the summer alongside Dan Anstey has fueled many discussions about potential larger roles for this seasoned media figure within the network.

Another viewer on Media Daily’s thread speculated that Sam might be in line for a different role, possibly taking over from Sonia Kruger as host of Nine’s new prime-time shows throughout the entire year until they find something suitable for her.

As a devoted admirer, I find myself envisioning her making a comeback next season, perhaps even taking over her very own morning show. If the creators are smart, they might reduce Today’s airtime slightly, insert Sam’s show for an hour in between, and stir things up a bit.

After Sam faced criticism online due to her performance on the Today Show, numerous disapproving fans rushed to social media platforms, advocating for her dismissal as the summer substitute host.

As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but ponder if Nine’s decision to shift Samantha might not just be about the change of seasons, but rather a sneaky test to determine whether she’s perfect for the permanent role on Today!

A significant point of contention within her latest professional circle is the feeling that the established talent at Nine has not been given proper recognition or consideration.

It appears that several individuals within the organization were taken aback when Samantha signed on, especially following her selection as the host of The Golden Bachelor, a position that others in the network had also been aiming for.

According to a source, there’s no greater disappointment than being chosen as the host for The Golden Bachelor and feeling certain about getting the job, only to find out from the news that Sam has been secretly selected instead.

The tension reportedly extends to Today’s regular hosts.

It’s said that Sarah Abo, aged 39, felt displeased earlier this year upon discovering that Samantha was being contemplated as her potential stand-in during a vacation time.

After Sarah firmly expressed her reservations, I found myself rooting for Nine’s decision to go with Sylvia Jeffreys instead. It seemed like they chose Sylvia as a more secure choice in the circumstances.

On this occasion, it seems that Sarah has conceded to the choice, although sources suggest that she found it challenging.

It seems that the colleague expressed, ‘If Sam really desires it, she will get it.’ Furthermore, they mentioned that Sarah has come to terms with the situation that Sam is receiving priority chances within the network.
