Today star Karl Stefanovic sends cryptic message to Michael Rowland as the host farewells ABC News Breakfast: ‘See you soon’
As a devoted viewer who has witnessed the dynamic duo of Michael Rowland and Karl Stefanovic grace my morning screen for years, I can’t help but feel a twinge of nostalgia as I bid farewell to the former. The camaraderie, wit, and unparalleled journalism they’ve delivered have been nothing short of exceptional.
Today, Karl Stefanovic shared a rather mysterious message on social media, marking the final day of Michael Rowland at ABC News Breakfast.
On a Friday morning, the long-time ABC news host bid farewell permanently, concluding a 15-year tenure with the morning news show.
While watching Michael’s departure on his television at home, Karl shared his well wishes.
He wrote, “Great job, Michael Rowland! You’re amazing,” accompanying the picture. Later, he enigmatically commented, “I’ll see you soon.
It’s unclear what Karl meant regarding a potential reunion with his breakfast show rival.
On a Friday morning, there was a heartfelt goodbye ceremony for Michael, where friends, relatives, and visitors gathered to honor the esteemed journalist. Though he’ll continue working with ABC, Michael plans to engage in various new endeavors.
He also wanted to express his gratitude at this moment for everyone’s assistance in making him appear great on camera. It is a colossal team effort, and he and Bridget couldn’t pull off what they do without the incredible work of the producers, directors, makeup artists, and others behind the scenes who ensure our content gets broadcast and helps us look our best.
I’d like to express my gratitude once more to my fellow presenters, especially Bridget. Working with you for such a brief period has been an absolute delight. Thank you!
In a special nod to Virginia, my colleague who partnered with me in work for nine years, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude. It was a pleasure working alongside her. On some occasions, we drove each other up the wall, but she played an instrumental role in teaching me how to present breakfast shows, and for that, Virginia, I am eternally thankful and happy to have shared this work journey with you.
Earlier this week, James Glenday was announced at Michael’s replacement.
As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but share the stunning revelation that Michael, aged 55, disclosed to us all just recently. He announced his farewell on our screens, unveiling his final performance had taken place on a chilling Friday, the 13th of December.
‘I’m leaving News Breakfast,’ Rowland announced.
Apologies to those watching, for the sudden notice. I don’t prefer elaborate, protracted goodbyes; I opted for a simple departure instead.
I deeply cherish this position as it stands out as the finest among all I’ve held within ABC, and indeed, beyond. However, after 15 long years of early mornings at 3 am, both my body and my spouse are expressing a clear need for change.
For the past 15 years, it has been a tremendous honor to deliver the news to our audience. To me, this aspect of the job holds the utmost significance.
During ABC News Breakfast, Michael’s co-host, Bridget Brennan, expressed that it was both an honor and a privilege to work beside him.
In his statement, Brennan expressed that he had personally observed his unwavering commitment towards robust journalism and dedicated public service.
In fifteen years, Australians will deeply feel his absence at breakfast every day. However, I am certain that everyone acknowledges the tremendous dedication he put into News Breakfast over this extended period.
Michael, I’m hoping the upcoming phase affords you extended mornings of rest and allows for later evenings to enjoy your cherished Doggies!
It comes amid a huge TV network shakeup across all channels in the last few months.
Samantha Armytage switched television networks, moving from Channel Seven to Channel Nine, following her announcement as the host for Channel Nine’s forthcoming dating series titled The Golden Bachelor.
During July, Sharyn Ghidella, a veteran news anchor for Seven, was unexpectedly let go from her position over the phone while she was getting her hair done, following 17 years of service with the network.
Originally, she got chosen by Channel Ten and currently serves as the evening news presenter for 10 News First in Queensland.
