Today show star makes a welcome return after graduating from Oxford University: ‘It’s nice to be home’

Brooke Boney was back on the Today show on Friday, having recently finished her studies at Oxford University.

The 38-year-old former Channel Nine reporter quit her role on the popular breakfast show last September to pursue her education at a well-respected university in the UK.

Brooke rejoined Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo on the show, and they immediately congratulated her on earning a Master’s degree in Public Policy.

Following a warm and enthusiastic introduction, Brooke was greeted with loving hugs by Karl and Sarah before she began sharing her experiences from her time overseas.

“It feels good to be back,” Brooke shared. “I had an incredible time – it was totally different than I imagined, but amazing!”

Brooke was surprised by how easily she picked up certain subjects, exceeding what she thought she was capable of.

‘I was good at the things I was not expecting,’ Brooke shared.

She shared proudly that she excelled in both economics and law, and even received the highest possible grade – a distinction – for her research.

Even though Brooke did exceptionally well, she admitted to feeling unsure about moving from Australia to the UK before she actually did it.

She admitted that it’s natural to feel uncertain when starting something new and unfamiliar.

I hadn’t been in school for about twenty years, and people kept questioning whether I was truly accepted based on my own abilities. They seemed to think there must have been a special route for someone who appears on the Today show to get into Oxford.

Now that Brooke had finished her studies, Karl asked if she’d be interested in coming back to Channel Nine, and she quickly agreed.

‘Are you kidding?’ she laughed.

‘Look how healthy I am. I don’t have to wake up at a quarter-past three.’

Brooke revealed in September last year she was moving to England to continue her studies.

Brooke shared a cheerful photo of herself on the way to her first day of university, writing, ‘It’s been a great month off!’

‘Time to start studying now. Checking into college today to start uni on Monday.’

She posted a cute selfie, showing off her best side in an elevator while bringing her luggage into St Antony’s College.

Brooke was thrilled about the big change in her life, and she expressed her excitement with a simple ‘eeeek’ in her post.
