The upcoming Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali is currently on hold, which is disappointing news for fans. Ali was originally cast in the role back in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con, but the film has faced numerous setbacks over the past six years. It’s gone through multiple changes in directors and cast, and its release has been indefinitely postponed.
Blade has a lot of potential as a character within the more supernatural side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a side that’s been growing with shows like Agatha All Along and Werewolf by Night. Unfortunately, Marvel hasn’t said anything about bringing Blade back into its release plans, which is disappointing news for fans who have been following the project.
Mahershala Ali’s Blade Movie Was Supposed To Be Released In 2025

The release of the Blade movie has been delayed several times. Originally planned for November 3, 2023, it was first moved to September 6, 2024, and then to 2025. At one point in 2025, two different release dates were considered – February 14th and November 7th – before settling on a later, unspecified date. The film stars Mahershala Ali as Blade and is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Originally, Mahershala Ali’s Blade movie was scheduled to come out in theaters today, November 7, 2025. However, Marvel has since removed it from its release schedule. Currently, the film is delayed with no new filming or release date announced.
Disney, which owns Marvel, has replaced the upcoming Blade movie with a new action film, Predator: Badlands. Predator: Badlands opened in theaters today and is expected to earn between $60 and $68 million worldwide. While Blade was first announced in 2019, Predator: Badlands was revealed in February 2024 and is now being released first.

It’s frustrating that we still haven’t received any real news about the Blade movie. Without any filming or story information, it’s becoming difficult to believe the film will actually happen. The recent decision by Marvel Studios to remove four movie release dates in 2026 and 2027 makes it even less likely that Blade will be included in the current phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel has removed several movie release dates – February 13, 2026, November 6, 2026, July 23, 2027, and November 5, 2027 – from its schedule. Currently, the plan is for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars to conclude the Multiverse Saga. With these delays, there’s concern that Mahershala Ali, at 51 years old, might not want to wait much longer to play Blade, and that project now seems far off.
