To Be Hero X Secretly Exposes the Hero Association’s Corruption
In Episode 7 of “To Be Hero X,” titled “Three Seats,” we witnessed the climax of the E-Soul Arc, a finale as emotionally charged and gripping as predicted. The events from the previous episode set the stage for Yang Cheng to confront the original E-Soul in a one-on-one duel. The ensuing battle, arguably the most spectacular animated fight scene this donghua has offered its fans up until now, ended with Yang Cheng emerging victorious, accompanied by Uncle Rock.
Following his debut in Episode 5, Rock soon gained fame as the affectionate “boba tea grandpa” who looked after Yang Cheng following the loss of his parents. Yet, the biggest shocking revelation in the E-Soul Arc was unveiling Rock’s true identity – the puppet master orchestrating all the misfortunes. He ultimately exposed himself as the embodiment of the Hero Association‘s deceit and avarice.
To Be Hero X Episode 7 Reveals Who Uncle Rock Really is
Uncle Rock is the Manipulative Head Honcho of Mighty Glory
Hero X nurtured Uncle Rock into a kind and paternal figure. He motivated Yang Cheng to chase his ambitions, urged him to strive for excellence, and backed him in all his endeavors. Furthermore, he attempted to guide Yang Cheng towards favorable professional paths. Although some admirers harbored doubts about him, there was scant proof to indicate that he was anything but a well-intentioned individual who had taken a vulnerable young man under his tutelage.
It wasn’t until Rock took a more active role in Yang Cheng’s career as the “new E-Soul” that some fans started to take a closer look at him. However, others were taken aback when Episode 7 unveiled that Rock was actually the CEO of Mighty Glory, a leading hero company with contracts with prominent figures like Dragon Boy, Ghostblade, and the original E-Soul himself. Interestingly, Mighty Glory is also linked to Shang Chao’s father’s previous work at the Treeman Corporation, which was responsible for Nice’s branding.
In his role as CEO at Mighty Glory, Rock is strategic, relentless, and has an uncanny knack for turning situations to his advantage. He prioritizes boosting the reputation of his company’s heroes over the well-being of others, and isn’t afraid to sacrifice innocent lives when he deems it necessary. Contrary to the kindhearted persona portrayed in Episode 5 of To Be Hero X, Rock left viewers stunned as they discovered that he orchestrated Yang Cheng’s entire tale meticulously, from start to finish.
Uncle Rock was Behind The E-Soul Arc’s Most Pivotal Moments
Everything was a Part of Uncle Rock’s Convoluted Plan
Since the debut of “To Be Hero X”, fans have been speculating about who orchestrated Pomelo’s kidnapping. Initially, many suspected it was the one possibly driven by the pain of Xia Qing’s rejection. Others pointed towards the original E-Soul, believing he might be searching for someone to pass his role onto. However, episode 6 revealed both assumptions incorrect, as the original E-Soul demonstrated no desire for replacement, and Shang Chao met a tragic end in the final scenes of the episode.
Upon the tragic demise of Shang Chao, many swiftly accused the original E-Soul and his public relations team, suspecting that their real aim was Yang Cheng. Although this suspicion seemed plausible, the revelation that the assassin had been one of Pomelo’s kidnappers left viewers puzzled. The role Pomelo played in the grand picture remained enigmatic. In hindsight, it was revealed that both Pomelo’s abduction and Shang Chao’s murder were intricate pieces of a highly complex plan designed to transform Yang Cheng into E-Soul version 2.0.
Rock encouraged and goaded Yang Cheng into entering the E-Soul auditions, strategically eliminating him in the finals to shatter his confidence for easier manipulation later. Then, Rock enlisted one of his young associates to abduct Pomelo, creating an opportunity for Yang Cheng to prove himself heroic. This act catapulted him to fame as the “New E-Soul.” Despite initial reservations, Yang Cheng embraced his new role as a hero.
To build upon their achievements, Rock brought Shang Chao into the picture. He managed to convince Yang Cheng to take on Shang Chao as his manager, which significantly boosted Yang Cheng’s fame. This surge in popularity became so immense that E-Soul’s public relations team was forced to sue them for capitalizing on the reputation of the former hero. After losing this lawsuit, Rock proceeded to the next step of his plan.
In a turn of events, Rock captured one of Pomelo’s kidnappers as a hostage, employing him to compel the other into murdering Yang Cheng. It seems that Rock might have expected Yang Cheng to survive the assassination attempt initially, but unfortunately, Shang Chao was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was the one who met his end instead. This unfortunate incident, however, proved beneficial for Rock’s plan.
With the conviction that the true E-Soul was at fault, Yang Cheng was driven by vengeance and a desire to uphold justice against corruption – a duty he felt compelled to take on after observing his Trust Value increase. Blinded by rage and an inflated sense of self, no one, not even Xia Qing, could dissuade him from his crusader’s path. When Yang Cheng decided to confront the original E-Soul in a do-or-die showdown, Rock saw an opportunity and stepped forward as Yang Cheng’s new patron.
The Hero Association is the Greatest Evil in To Be Hero X
Superheroes are Nothing More Than Cash Cows who Are Used Until They’re Broken
Although E-Soul’s reputation stood as an enduring legacy, his popularity was waning, and it wasn’t hard to understand why. He wasn’t just old and obstinate but also resistant to working with his public relations team, which was eroding his fans’ loyalty. Rock sought someone new yet malleable, yet also possessing a noble spirit – qualities he found in Yang Cheng. In essence, Yang Cheng embodied the essence of E-Soul, but being innocent made him more manageable and controllable.
In the captivating world of “To Be Hero X,” I’ve noticed the Hero Association doesn’t hesitate when it comes to swapping out superheroes, much like replacing a worn-out lightbulb. For instance, when Treeman Corporation found Lin Ling was no longer functioning optimally, they remodeled him into a new and improved model. Similarly, Rock perceived that the original E-Soul’s brilliance was dimming, so he decided to upgrade, finding a successor who shone brighter and held more potential.
Although “To Be Hero X” has explained the process of creating supervillains, it hasn’t delved deeply into major antagonists beyond The Enlighter. This is due to the fact that the most significant adversary is actually the Hero Association itself. Uncle Rock serves as a key illustration of this. Instead of trying to persuade the elderly E-Soul to retire and ensure Yang Cheng could smoothly succeed, he engineered and orchestrated scenarios to craft a more thrilling storyline that had greater commercial appeal.
During the transformation of Yang Cheng into the desired E-Soul by Rock, four individuals met their untimely end. Among them was a young, aspiring man who aimed to aid his friend and advance in his career, and another was an elderly hero whose sole purpose was selfless service to others. The initial E-Soul embodied a truly virtuous nature, as demonstrated by his reluctance to engage Yang Cheng in battle and his hesitancy to unleash his most lethal move, Light Slash. He resorted to using it only under the pressure from his manager and his supporters.
Based on the actions demonstrated by Hero X so far, it appears that heroes are often the ones who suffer the most. In this animated series, their altruistic nature and pursuit of justice makes them vulnerable to being manipulated and controlled by others. E-Soul, who deserved recognition as a veteran, was instead mistreated, reduced to a worn-out puppet whose strings were fraying, eventually replaced by a glossy new doll.
