Tina Turner’s New, Long-Lost Song Set to Be Released
An unheard track from Tina Turner is set to be released, 40 years after it was first recorded.
On Thursday, the song named “Hot For You Baby” will make its debut on BBC Radio 2’s Morning Program, and it’ll also be included in a special 40th-anniversary version of the artist’s hit album “Private Dancer.” Simply put, for the first time, this tune will be broadcasted on BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast Show, and it will be part of a 40th anniversary edition of the popular album “Private Dancer.
In May 2023, Tina passed away peacefully at her residence in Küsnach close to Zurich, at the age of 83. Her demise ignited an outpouring of heartfelt tributes from musicians across various genres.
Originally recorded at Capitol Studios in Hollywood, “Hot For You, Baby” was initially planned as a track for the album.
The tape, long lost, has been found anew while the record label prepared for the 40th anniversary reissue of Private Dancer.
The initial record up for Album of the Year at the 1985 Grammy Awards featured popular tracks such as “What’s Love Got To Do With It” and “Better Be Good To Me.”
Or, more casually:
Back in 1985, this album was nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammys. It had hits like “What’s Love Got To Do With It” and “Better Be Good To Me”.
Additionally, rare and unheard tracks, live concerts, and video recordings will be included in the special edition release to celebrate the anniversary. Among these are a full 55-minute Private Dancer Tour performance captured across two nights at Birmingham’s NEC in March of 1985.
Besides the 5CD/Blu-ray set, you’ll find five high-definition music videos that have been improved. Specifically, the iconic video for ‘Private Dancer’ has been meticulously restored from its original 35mm film and now offers stunning high-definition clarity.
Additionally featured on the cover are insights from American songwriter Holly Knight, former judge of Strictly Come Dancing Dame Arlene Phillips, and music artist Martyn Ware from The Human League.
Tina received recognition at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and accumulated an impressive collection of 12 Grammy trophies, one of which was the Lifetime Achievement Award she earned in 2018.
The stormy marriage between her and Ike Turner was a main focus in the 1993 film “What’s Love Got To Do With It”, and both Laurence Fishburne and Angela Bassett received Academy Award nominations for their performances.
It was reported by DailyMail.com in May 2023 that representatives for Tina confirmed her passing due to natural causes, making her the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
On May 24th, they shared the unfortunate news that she had passed away, expressing: ‘The world has lost an iconic musician and inspiring figure in her.’
After her passing, Turner’s memoir reemerged, revealing a time when she contemplated assisted suicide in the year 2016, prior to her spouse, Erwin Bach, selflessly donating one of his kidneys to her.
In her memoir, she disclosed that she joined a support group for aid-in-dying, anticipating this scenario as she psychologically prepared for the prospect of passing away.
Turner learned that her neglected high blood pressure was hastening her kidney problems, and if her body were to fail, she began finding solace in accepting the notion of death.
Her husband Bach stepped in to donate his kidney to her in 2017.
Tina Turner’s tragic death sent shockwaves across the world.
In 1978, Turner was initially diagnosed with high blood pressure, and in 2016, she encountered a struggle against intestinal cancer. Simultaneously, her kidney function began to deteriorate, necessitating a kidney transplant in 2017.
On April 9, 2023, in what appear to be her last public statements, she expressed to The Guardian her wishes for how the world would recall her, and stated that she was not afraid of death.
‘How would you like to be remembered?’ the Guardian asked.
‘She reigned as the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, demonstrating to fellow women everywhere that they could pursue success and define it according to their own unique terms.’
When asked about her fears regarding growing older, she said, “I don’t have any. Life is an exciting journey filled with adventures, and I welcome each day as it comes with open arms.
Turner is left behind by two of her four sons, who have already passed away, and her 67-year-old spouse, Erwin Bach. (or)
