Tina Knowles denies ‘fake’ response of her shading Dolly Parton’s comments about Beyonce’s 2024 CMA Awards nomination snub
As a die-hard fan of Beyoncé and a connoisseur of all things music, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions reading this article. On one hand, I’m thrilled to see the legendary Dolly Parton defending Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter album and praising her country roots. But on the other hand, it’s heartbreaking to see yet another instance where Beyonce seems to be overlooked by an industry that should be embracing her talent with open arms.
Tina Knowles refuted claims that she had responded to Dolly Parton’s remarks about Beyoncé not receiving an invitation for the 2024 CMA Awards.
In a now-removed Instagram post from her account, the mother of the Texas Hold ‘Em chart-topper (who is 70 years old) countered Parton’s statement that Beyonce might not have been nominated because the country music industry values artists who have devoted their entire careers to the genre.
The original message, which was later removed, stated: “Oh Ms. Dolly, we adore you, but Beyonce has truly poured her entire life into her work since she was just nine years old! She comes from a rural background as well. Over time, she’s perfected her skills and shattered records across all genres. Therefore, suggesting that she didn’t devote her life to country music disregards the efforts she made.
By doesn’t have to confine herself to a single path to earn respect – her talent and dedication do all the talking! She’s been putting in the effort, and no one else is asked to commit their life to staying in one place to be acknowledged!” #countryvibes, she declared.
On Thursday, following criticism, Knowles stated that she didn’t write the message, by posting, “This is false, not from me,” beneath a different Instagram post.
In response to criticism about the CMA Awards, Parton explained to Variety: “With so many talented country artists, it must have seemed unfair to exclude those who dedicated their entire lives to this genre.
The Jolene hitmaker added: ‘But I didn’t even realize that until somebody asked me that question.’
Parton commended the success of the album, referring to it as ‘a fantastic record’ that Beyoncé, aged 43, should feel incredibly proud of.
The 9 to 5 performer mentioned that everyone in the realm of country music seemed to embrace her, and this was considered a positive thing.
According to Parton, Beyoncé wasn’t deliberately overlooked when it came to recognition in the country genre, even though Dolly had remade her song “Jolene” in that style.
Parton explained that it wasn’t about intentionally excluding anyone, but rather reflecting the trends in country music charts and the behaviors of country artists, which often involve such patterns, not just for a themed album.
Parton went on to say, “I’ve had the privilege of being included in both those recordings. To be specific, ‘Jolene’ was featured in Beyoncé’s album, and I found it to be an excellent production.
In a reference to “The Islands in the Stream” performer stated, ‘Beyoncé is deeply rooted in the countryside of Texas and Louisiana, which explains her origins. She didn’t suddenly materialize without any background.’
Parton said she was ‘open to anything’ in terms of a potential collaboration with Beyoncé.
Fans felt let down as they didn’t spot Beyoncé during the announcement of the nominees for the 58th Country Music Association Awards, which took place on Monday.
Despite her groundbreaking country album, Cowboy Carter, garnering attention with popular tracks such as Texas Hold ‘Em, Amen, and Oh Louisiana, she was unfortunately overlooked by the music association.
As your go-to lifestyle guide, I’m thrilled to share that in the year 2024, the prestigious Country Music Association Awards are set to take center stage! Mark your calendars for November 20th, and get ready to tune in at 5:00 PM Pacific Standard Time. The magic unfolds live from Music City itself – Nashville, Tennessee!
