Tina Arena reveals details about the mystery illness that caused her 2023 tour to be cancelled

As an ardent fan of Tina Arena, witnessing her resilience and strength over the years has always left me in awe. Yet, the latest revelation about her health struggles truly touched my heart. It’s heart-wrenching to know that the woman who gave us timeless hits like “Chains” and “Sorrento Moon” had to endure such pain.

Tina Arena recently disclosed fresh insights regarding the unknown ailment that led her to postpone her tour back in October of the previous year.

In an interview with Stellar Magazine, the 56-year-old Australian vocalist expressed that a painful kidney infection she experienced could potentially be a symptom or manifestation of past traumas.

The artist famous for her chain-themed songs implied that the prolonged lockdowns enforced by Victoria’s premier, Daniel Andrews, could potentially have played a role in her falling ill.

Last year, I fell seriously ill due to a kidney infection, which required me to be hospitalized. Consequently, I had to postpone my scheduled tour,” she explained.

‘I really do believe that’s a manifestation of the trauma that happened in 2020, 2021 and 2022.’

In September 2023, Andrews stepped down after his decision to enforce six lockdowns, accumulating to a period of 262 days since March 2020, sparked varying viewpoints among the public.

The Sorrento Moon singer said her process of recovery is gradual, but she has plenty of support.

I’ve been making progress bit by bit, with the support of my dear ones. And let me assure you, this isn’t the end.

On certain days, things go wonderfully well, while others can be challenging, but overall, I’m improving significantly. Admittedly, I may have stressed myself out more than necessary, but I believe I’ve learned and grown immensely from the experience.

Recently, the popular Australian pop singer opened up about her decision to end her tour prematurely last year during an interview with Yvie Jones on the Two Girls One Podcast. She revealed that she had to halt the performances after only two shows in Sydney and Perth due to unbearable pain.

That moment will forever be etched in my memory,” I confessed, recalling how agonizing the pain had grown until it forced me to seek immediate medical attention at the ER.

Doctors then discovered she had an infected kidney and Tina was in ICU for almost seven days.

The singer stated that his kidney was extremely close to rupturing due to a severe infection. He had no idea just how serious the situation truly was.

Tina went on to say, “As I glanced at them, I told them, ‘I’m currently traveling, I need a fortnight to rest.’

However, the doctors suggested she should cancel the tour.

The Chains hitmaker announced the cancellation of the tour in October last year.

Among the concerts that were called off were a Gold Coast performance set for October 12th, an event in Melbourne slated for October 20th, and the closing act of the tour in Adelaide on October 21st.

But in August, the singer announced she would be returning to the stage at the end of this year.

The Australian singer will perform on the 7th of December at the Mornington Racecourse.

She will be joined by Richard Marx, Daryl Braithwaite, Kate Ceberano, Southern Sons and 1927.

Hello all! I’ve got some exciting news – I’ll be traveling to Mornington this coming December. This trip is made possible by ALWAYS LIVE and Face to Face Touring, as we commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Don’t Ask. She shared this update in a Facebook post this week.

She expressed: ‘Your affection and motivation keep fanning the flames of my enthusiasm, and I’m absolutely thrilled to create more cherished memories together in the upcoming year.’
