Timothy Spall’s ‘superbly suspenseful’ ITV drama is leaving Netflix after trending streaming success

Timothy Spall’s drama “Hatton Garden” will no longer be available on Netflix, having achieved popularity during its run on the streaming platform.

In 2019, a four-part series based on real events first aired on ITV, detailing the heist of London’s diamond district known as Hatton Garden in 2015, orchestrated by a band of senior criminals.

It is believed that career criminals managed to escape with approximately £200 million in diamond valuables, and this lengthy legal proceeding held back the production of the show.

Five years post its initial airing, I found myself binge-watching it on Netflix last spring, and let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint! It climbed up the charts to become one of the UK’s top five most-watched series, a testament to its enduring popularity.

The critics also appreciated it, with the show earning an impressive 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on seven reviews. At that time, the writers praised its “exceptional suspense” and called the cast “outstanding.

If it seems appealing to you, especially if you’re a Netflix user, you might want to catch it quickly because it is set to be removed from the platform in the near future.

Hey there fellow gamers! If you’re done conquering virtual worlds and need a break, you can catch up on your favorite shows right here on ITVX. You’ve got two options: Stream for free with some ads popping up like those pesky bosses in a game, or upgrade to a paid subscription for an ad-free experience – think of it as unlocking the ‘God Mode’!

During the initial airing of the show, writer Jeff Pope discussed the challenges the series encountered because of the ongoing court case related to the actual culprits.

Pope mentioned that they needed to act on it quite late, as he explained to Digital Spy. It was an entirely separate issue, but there was a risk of influencing it undesirably.

You’ve found yourself in a tight spot, frantically searching for an escape. You ponder, ‘Is there any chance of reshooting?’ Yet no matter which direction we took, we remained ensnared, as the storyline revolves around Terry Perkins, who appears in almost every scene, making it impossible to edit him out.

Hatton Court is still available on Netflix for now, and can also be streamed on ITVX.

Excitedly, I can’t wait for you to get your hands on my favorite pick – the debut print magazine from Digital Spy! Grab a copy of “British Comedy Legends” at your local newsagents or online, priced at just £7.99. It’s filled with laughter and memorable moments from our beloved British comedy legends!
