Look forward to the heartwarming new Netflix British drama starring Timothy Spall, featuring an illustrious ensemble of actors. Make sure to save it on your queue!
Earlier this year, it was announced that the movie titled “Goodbye June” focuses on the struggles of a modern British family dealing with their dysfunctions.
The upcoming film will serve as Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet’s first directorial project. Her son, Joe Anders, penned the script. They have worked together before, starring in the TV film “I Am Ruth” and the movie “Lee”.
What to Read Next
The movie, titled “Goodbye June“, is depicted as heartfelt, with its narrative unfolding amidst contemporary England, where a family of siblings unite to reconcile their disagreements after experiencing a heartbreaking incident.
The shooting for the project is completed; it started in the United Kingdom back in March this year. Unfortunately, the movie doesn’t appear on Netflix’s schedule for 2025 release, suggesting that viewers might need to wait till at least next year before they can watch it.
Apart from acting, Kate Winslet is also involved in production alongside Kate Solomon. Notably, Solomon has a background in projects like “Lee,” “United 93,” and “Legend.
The production company responsible for recent successful films like “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,” “Blitz,” “The Substance,” and “Drive-Away Dolls” is known as Working Title.
Previously, Kate Winslet shared with Digital Spy her insights about the role she took on as a producer for the first time during the making of ‘Lee’, describing it as an entirely new and distinct task.
In simpler terms, an executive producer could be someone who initially discovers the project and then passes it along to another individual. This position may also involve providing financial backing, offering production office facilities, or taking on the role in various other forms.
However, being a producer involves overseeing every aspect from conception to completion – the intricate details, the budget, the crew, the shooting locations, and ultimately, delivering the final film. This role is distinctly different from others, and it was the first time I undertook this task on the production of “Lee“.
Who else is in Goodbye June?
As well as Spall and Winslet, Goodbye June boasts an impressive wider cast too, including:
• Toni Collette stars in “Mickey 17”
• Johnny Flynn is featured in “One Life”
• Andrea Riseborough appears in “Matilda the Musical”
• Dame Helen Mirren plays a role in “MobLand
Goodbye June is yet to confirm a release date, but will stream on Netflix.
