Timothy Spall and Tim Roth team up for “truly unique” crime thriller

I’m really excited – Timothy Spall and Tim Roth are finally working together on a movie called Murdering Michael Malloy! It’s supposed to be a darkly funny crime thriller, and apparently, it’s been in the works for ages. Sounds awesome!

The movie takes place in New York City during the Great Depression and follows Tony Marino, a bar owner facing hard times. He believes he’s found a way to solve his problems by insuring the life of Michael Malloy, a local man known for being a heavy drinker.

Tony and his accomplice, Bastogne, attempted to kill Michael, but discovered he was surprisingly difficult to eliminate.

With each of Marino’s plans falling apart, he and the other man develop a surprising connection, leading to a deeply moving and sacrificial climax set in New York City during the Great Depression.

According to Deadline, the movie will be presented at the Cannes Film Festival with plans to start filming later in 2024.
