Under the guidance of renowned screenwriter Julian Fellowes, known for his work on Downton Abbey, an exciting blend of adventure and fantasy unfolds. The story revolves around a teenager portrayed by Alex Etel, who stumbles upon an extraordinary ability to journey through time.

The narrative unfolds as a chilling Christmas ghost tale that takes place in two distinct time periods, over a hundred years apart. After 13-year-old Tolly discovers an enigmatic ability to move between these two worlds, he embarks on a thrilling journey that uncovers secrets long hidden within his family lineage.

First released in 2010, this movie can now be streamed on Channel 5’s platform, making it accessible for UK residents at no cost (with commercial breaks).

Alongside Smith and Spall, the cast includes Hugh Bonneville, a colleague of Fellowes from Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones actress Carice van Houten, Harriet Walter from Succession, Dominic West from The Crown, Douglas Booth, Christopher Villiers, and Pauline Collins.

In the meantime, Gareth Neame, the producer of Downton Abbey, has given an update about the upcoming third and final movie in the series. He mentioned that the storyline will provide a satisfying and fitting end for the characters, portrayed by Bonneville and Fellowes.

The beloved television series, Downton Abbey, is coming back in September for its third movie, called “Downton Abbey: The Final Chapter“. This installment takes us through the Crawley family’s journey as they enter the 1930s.

During a conversation at the Golden Globes panel (as reported by Variety), Neam shared his reasoning for creating three movies after six seasons of television: He had always been hopeful about it, as he believed the TV series possessed a cinematic quality that would translate well onto the big screen.

He added: “This method prolonged Downton’s existence, but not indefinitely. Also, we didn’t wish to simply discontinue it. Instead, we desired a fitting conclusion for both the franchise and Downton Abbey.

For enthusiasts of Downton Abbey, The Grand Finale serves as a comprehensive and fitting end to the tales of every character.

From Time to Time is available to watch for free on Channel 5.

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is scheduled to be released in cinemas on September 12.
