Timothy Olyphant fuels speculation about a possible Star Wars return

Following his first appearance in the second season premiere of “The Mandalorian,” Cobb Vanth quickly gained popularity as a fresh character within live-action Star Wars. However, since the conclusion of “The Book of Boba Fett,” he hasn’t made another appearance.

In the final episode, Vanth was connected to life support following a shooting by the menacing Cad Bane, but in a surprising twist, he was seen recuperating within Boba Fett’s healing bacta tank. Ever since the series concluded, viewers have been eager to find out what became of the major characters, including the enigmatic figure of Cad Bane.

In recent discussions, both Temuera Morrison (Boba Fett) and Ming-Na Wen have dismissed rumors about a potential comeback in Star Wars. However, Timothy Olyphant‘s recent response to a question about Cobb Vanth has sparked speculation that his character might make a return soon. During an interview with Joe Deckelmeier from ScreenRant at San Diego Comic-Con, Olyphant was asked if we can expect to see Cobb Vanth again in future projects.

When asked about the potential return of Cobb Vanth in “The Mandalorian”, Timothy Olyphant diplomatically stated, “I can’t discuss that.

It’s hard not to interpret Tim Olyphant’s cautiously crafted response, given it barely addressed the question at hand. With The Book of Boba Fett wrapping up in February 2022 and Tim Olyphant last appearing as Freetown’s Marshal over three years ago, his reluctance to discuss his Star Wars future seems to suggest he’s bound by a contract. His evasive answers certainly give the impression that Cobb Vanth might reappear in the Star Wars universe.

It seems entirely plausible that Vanth could reappear, given his close bond with Din Djarin and his prominence on Tatooine. Should Din Djarin find himself conducting affairs on the planet, it would not be surprising if he crosses paths with The Marshal once more. While many spectators anticipate seeing Cobb Vanth again in “The Mandalorian and Grogu” or a specific episode of “The Mandaloran,” there’s also a possibility that he could feature in another project altogether.

Several years ago, Lucasfilm unveiled “Rangers of the New Republic”. Although the series didn’t move forward eventually, it could serve as a unifying platform. Shows such as “Ahsoka”, “The Mandalorian”, “Skeleton Crew”, and “The Book of Boba Fett” are all pieces of a broader narrative that culminates in Dave Filoni’s film. If “Rangers of the New Republic” is resurrected, it could offer characters like Cobb Vanth, who haven’t appeared for years, another chance to reappear.

In an upcoming project, it’s likely that Cobb Vanth will be seen working with Din Djarin. But I’m wondering if Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau might have something in store for Boba Fett and Fennec Shand since their location has been unclear since they appeared on The Book of Boba Fett.

The Mandalorian is streaming on Disney+.
