Award-winning actor Timothy Busfield has been arrested in New Mexico following accusations of sexual abuse involving two young actors on the set of the TV show “The Cleaning Lady.”
I just heard that actor Peter Busfield, who I recognize from shows like “The West Wing” and “Thirtysomething,” turned himself in to the Albuquerque Metro Detention Center. Apparently, the police had a warrant for his arrest, and he’s going through the booking process now. A police spokesperson confirmed it all today.
Busfield has denied the claims, as seen in a video posted by TMZ. His lawyer didn’t respond immediately when asked for a statement.
“I’m gonna confront these lies,” he said in the video, “they’re horrible.”
In a video apparently recorded at his lawyer’s office, the actor stated he learned about the arrest warrant on Friday, the day it was issued. He then hired an attorney and drove 2,000 miles to Albuquerque on Saturday.

He added of the allegations: “They’re all lies and I did not do anything to those little boys.”
Busfield stated that he and his lawyers plan to vigorously defend against the accusations, and he’s confident he’ll be cleared of any wrongdoing. He asked his supporters to remain patient and expressed his gratitude for their backing, adding that he anticipates returning to his job soon.
A New Mexico judge has ordered the arrest of Busfield on charges of sexually abusing two child actors. He’s accused of inappropriate contact with the brothers while directing an episode of the Fox television drama. The charges include two counts of criminal sexual contact and one count of child abuse.
Fox and Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind “Cleaning Lady,” stated on Sunday that the well-being of their actors and crew is their top priority. They are aware of the allegations against Busfield and are cooperating fully with the ongoing law enforcement investigation.
Busfield turned himself in less than a day after news reports said the U.S. Marshals Service was helping New Mexico authorities find him.
