Timothée Chalamet’s Favorite Movie Also Happens To Be One Of The Greatest Films Of All Time

He’s become a major star in Hollywood, earning two Academy Award nominations for his roles in *Call Me By Your Name* and *A Complete Unknown*. So, it’s perhaps no surprise that the 29-year-old names one of the most popular and well-regarded films of all time as his favorite.

When asked his favorite movie after receiving the playfully titled “White Boy of the Year” award at the inaugural Believe That Awards (hosted on NBA player Anthony Edwards’ YouTube channel), Timothée Chalamet responded while on a break from filming in Budapest. Here’s what he said:

I’m often asked about my favorite movie, and I always say it’s The Dark Knight. However, the best movie I’ve seen this year is definitely Heat. I watched it recently, and it really holds up as a classic.

Many people have noted similarities between Christopher Nolan’s 2008 blockbuster, *The Dark Knight* – which won Heath Ledger a posthumous Oscar – and Michael Mann’s 1995 film starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. Both movies share a distinctive style, particularly in how they handle action and visual elements. The comparison is especially striking given the success and impact of *The Dark Knight*.

During a conversation with Anthony Edwards and Nick Maddox, Timothée Chalamet brought up several films, including *Heat* and *The Dark Knight*. He also mentioned *Heat* again, and highlighted the 2001 film *Training Day*, with Ethan Hawke, as a significant influence on his acting. He considers a crime drama—which also happens to be a comic book movie—to be his biggest inspiration.

Does Timothée Chalamet Have A Future In Superhero Movies?

Timothée Chalamet recently shared in an interview that Leonardo DiCaprio, his co-star in *Don’t Look Up* (who almost played Robin in *Batman Forever*), cautioned him against appearing in superhero films. Interestingly, Chalamet also revealed that *The Dark Knight* was a major inspiration for his decision to become an actor, so he’d consider a superhero role if the script and director were a good fit.

There’s a good chance Timothée Chalamet could appear in a Marvel or DC superhero movie someday. Many fans have already imagined him in different roles, and a lot of their ideas come from the Batman universe. Online, people have created artwork of him as Robin, who is expected to return in upcoming DC films, or even as Batman himself.

Timothée Chalamet will likely star in many more large-scale films after he returns as Paul Atreides in *Dune: Part Three*, scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. It’s still unknown if he’ll ever play a superhero, like in his favorite film, *The Dark Knight*.

The Dark Knight is streaming on HBO Max.
