28-year-old Dune star underwent a remarkable metamorphosis, becoming a striking resemblance of the renowned ping-pong player Marty Reisman, whose life serves as inspiration for an upcoming movie.

In New York City, the actor traded his contemporary wardrobe for retro clothing, causing the surroundings – the streets and vehicles – to appear as if they had been transported from the 1950s.

Timothée, who just became an uncle, wore a light blue shirt left open, revealing the white undershirt beneath it.

He put on a well-fitted pair of green trousers with a matching brown belt and sleek black dress shoes, and carried a stylish brown leather briefcase.

To complete his appearance convincingly, the Academy Award-nominated actor donned a slim mustache and a pair of round, frameless spectacles.

Timothée was observed weaving his way past bystanders to get to a fire escape ladder, whereupon he scaled the building’s exterior, giving the impression that he was being chased.

During breaks between filming scenes, director Josh Safdie was often spotted conversing with his main actor and offering suggestions for improvement.

In addition to Timothée, Marty Supreme features notable actors such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler the Creator, and illusionist Penn Jillette.

The movie is based on the ping-pong society of the 1950s, yet its storyline remains undisclosed as IMDb indicates that it’s kept confidential.

But it is believed to be a ‘fictionalised original, rather than a biopic’ of Marty’s life.

Marty, who passed away at the age of 82 in 2012, was a highly esteemed American table tennis legend, having claimed victories in the U.S. Men’s Singles championships for both 1958 and 1960, as well as the U.S. Hardbat Championship in 1997.

He won five bronze medals at the World Table Tennis Championships and scooped 22 major table tennis titles from 1946 to 2002, including two United States Opens and a British Open.

At the age of 67, he achieved the record for being the oldest player to triumph in any open national racket sport competition when he clinched the 1997 United States National Hardbat Championship.

Besides being a skilled athlete, he also had a distinctive sense of fashion, often seen donning Borsalino fedoras and Panama hats.

Timothée, a resident of both New York and California, gained popularity when he played the leading role in the 2017 movie “Call Me by Your Name.

At just 21 years old, he earned a Best Actor Oscar nomination, making him one of the youngest actors to be nominated in this category.

After his breakout role in “Call Me by Your Name”, Timothée has since featured in Greta Gerwig’s film “Lady Bird” (2017), as well as “Little Women” (2019), and secured a part in Wes Anderson’s comedy, “The French Dispatch”, which is set for release in 2021.
