During the BAFTAs, Timothée Chalamet was spotted texting on his phone, despite host Alan Cumming asking everyone to switch their devices off.
The 30-year-old actor appeared cheerful while sitting with his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, at The Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday.
Despite being nominated for Best Actor for his role in Marty Supreme, Timothée didn’t appear engaged in the ceremony and was seen texting on his phone.
A friend sent the Dune actor several messages, including a meme of him in the bright orange suit he wore to the Los Angeles premiere of his movie, Marty Supreme, last December.
Timothée later looked at his text messages while talking to his partner, Kylie, who looked stunning in a low-cut black dress adorned with silver jewels.
The makeup billionaire chose not to walk the BAFTAs red carpet, allowing Timothée Chalamet to have his moment in the spotlight alone.
The couple looked very affectionate, holding hands as they waited for the ceremony to begin.
Kylie and her Oscar-nominated partner have been together for over three years and already share a home. Sources say they’ve been discussing marriage.
Host Alan started the show by playfully asking the audience to silence their phones and other electronics, with a humorous exception for medical devices like pacemakers and those monitoring medication like Ozempic.
Alan will host this year’s BAFTA awards, celebrating the best films of the year and welcoming stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Jacob Elordi, and Michael B. Jordan.
Guests arriving on the red carpet will enjoy music from DJ Neev Spencer, who hosts shows on Magic FM. Clara Amfo and Ali Plumb will be reporting live from outside the famous London venue.
The show will feature a star-studded lineup of guest hosts, including Aimee Lou Wood, Alicia Vikander, Cillian Murphy, Ethan Hawke, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Sadie Sink, and the popular British grime artist Stormzy.
The Royal Festival Hall will host appearances by stars like Kerry Washington, Minnie Driver, Monica Bellucci, Patrick Dempsey, and Regé-Jean Page, as well as many other notable figures.
The evening’s entertainment will feature a variety of performers, including a special international debut by KPop group Golden from Demon Hunters. They’ll be performing the hit track ‘HUNTR/X,’ with vocals by JAE, AUDREYNUNA, and REI AMI.
During the In Memoriam segment, British singer Jessie Ware will honor the memory of those lost with a heartfelt performance of a Barbara Streisand song.
This year, Dame Donna Langley will receive BAFTA’s highest honor, the Fellowship Award, as part of the Special Awards ceremony.
The head of NBCUniversal Entertainment, a British executive, will be honored for her long and successful career. She’s widely considered one of the most important and admired leaders in the entertainment world.
Clare Binns, Creative Director at Picture House Cinemas, will receive the BAFTA Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema Award.
This award acknowledges her dedication to supporting a wide range of original and creative films shown in cinemas across the UK.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film, One Battle After Another, is expected to be a major contender at this year’s awards, having received an impressive fourteen nominations.
However, it’s up against strong contenders, including the horror film Sinners, which received thirteen nominations, and Hamnet, a poignant drama directed by Chloé Zhao about the death of Shakespeare’s son, earning eleven nominations.
As a huge fan of both historical fiction and strong female filmmakers, I was thrilled to hear about Hamnet. It’s based on Maggie O’Farrell’s incredible novel, and it’s made BAFTA history by receiving more nominations than any other film directed by a woman – a truly fantastic achievement!
Jessie Buckley, the Irish actress, has received an award nomination for her performance in a film, following wins at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards, and previous nominations from the Academy Awards and Screen Actors Guild.
Paul Mescal, a co-star who wasn’t nominated for an Oscar, is also hoping to win an award, having received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the BAFTAs.
Timothée Chalamet’s new film, Marty Supreme, is aiming for continued success after receiving eleven BAFTA nominations – including for Best Film and Best Actor – building on its recent wins at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards.
Frankenstein and Sentimental Value both received eight nominations. I Swear and Bugonia each earned five nominations, while The Ballad of Wallis Island, Pillion, and F1 each received three.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m keeping a close eye on this year’s BAFTA nominations! The competition for Leading Actress is fierce. We’ve got Rose Byrne nominated for her work in ‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,’ the always-brilliant Kate Hudson for ‘Song Sung Blue,’ and the rising star Chase Infiniti with ‘One Battle After Another.’ Rounding out the nominees are Renate Reinsve, giving a stunning performance in ‘Sentimental Value,’ and of course, the incredibly talented Emma Stone for ‘Bugonia.’ It’s going to be a tough one to call!
Leonardo DiCaprio is nominated for a BAFTA Award for the seventh time, and could win his second, for his leading role in the critically acclaimed film, One Battle After Another.
