Timothée Chalamet expressed his gratitude towards a kind fan who helped boost the energy at a recent Q&A session in Los Angeles. He said he’ll always be thankful for the fan encouraging the quiet crowd to cheer for him.
The 30-year-old actor and his co-star, Elle Fanning, 27, were greeted by excited fans at a film event held at the Los Feliz 3 Theatre on Thursday.
When the private conversation began, he recounted a heartwarming experience with a fan who had helped him avoid an uncomfortable silence from the crowd.
When Timothée joined Elle on stage, the audience didn’t immediately react with cheers. One excited fan quickly started cheering to encourage a more enthusiastic welcome for the actor as he appeared.
Timothée noticed a fan in the front row who had started the audience’s applause, so he paused the question-and-answer session to thank them.
Stepping up to the microphone, he addressed a fan, saying, ‘Thanks for trying to energize the crowd. I noticed you, and I really appreciate your support.’

The crowd erupted in laughter and cheered when the actor sat down next to the actress from the Super 8 film.
Timothée Chalamet attended the event, which was exclusively for American Cinematheque members who paid $19 per ticket. He dressed casually in jeans and sneakers.
He completed his ensemble with a Comme des Garçons striped shirt, worth £185.
Elle, who hosted the event, chose a stylish outfit: flared jeans and a black top, completed by a pair of high black heels.
Elle and Timothée are friends and often appear in movies together, including the film about Bob Dylan and ‘A Rainy Day in New York’.
Timothée has spent the last few months actively promoting his highly praised film, even arranging for shops to sell related merchandise.
He stars as the main character in a sports movie inspired by the story of Marty Reisman, a determined athlete striving to become a table tennis champion.
Timothée has already won a Golden Globe for the flick and has been nominated for an Oscar.
The film premiered in the UK on Boxing Day and features Gwyneth Paltrow, who returned to acting to play Marty’s love interest.
I’m not surprised this movie is doing so well! Timothée Chalamet has been amazing at promoting it, and honestly, all the attention from his red carpet appearances with Kylie Jenner has definitely helped get people excited. It’s a winning combination!
The movie has already made over $72 million in the US, quickly becoming more successful than Leonardo DiCaprio’s film, ‘One Battle After Another.’ This is especially notable considering DiCaprio is competing with the film’s star, Timothée Chalamet, for an Oscar.
Experts estimate it may end up taking around $180 million globally.
Josh Safdie’s film follows a determined young man in 1950s New York as he strives for success in the world of competitive table tennis.
During his journey, he becomes involved with a married actress, portrayed by Gwyneth, and her angry husband punishes him by hitting him with a table tennis paddle.
He was simultaneously in a relationship with his childhood sweetheart, and she became pregnant while still married to someone else.
The show also features a significant amount of crime, like theft and vandalism. Furthermore, the character of Marty – known as Marty Mauser in the movie – is often portrayed as unlikeable and difficult.
Many film critics have called Timothée’s character a ‘sociopath’ due to his cruel behavior. Kevin O’Leary, who plays Gwyneth’s husband, has a more direct description: he calls the character a jerk.
