Timothée Chalamet reveals startling detail about Bob Dylan ahead of upcoming biopic A Complete Unknown
As a lifelong fan of Bob Dylan and a connoisseur of cinematic masterpieces, I must say that this upcoming film, with Timothée Chalamet portraying the legendary musician, has me absolutely thrilled! The level of authenticity and attention to detail in these promotional images is simply breathtaking.
Before portraying the legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan in the upcoming biopic titled “A Complete Unknown,” Timothée Chalamet didn’t meet him face to face.
Speaking on Apple Music 1’s The Zane Lowe Show on Monday, the 28-year-old actor shared that he has never had the chance to meet [the person in question]. He was discussing his upcoming movie, set for release in cinemas on Christmas Day.
The Oscar-nominated actor noted that he ‘would love to’ meet Dylan, 83, but the Like a Rolling Stone artist has kept a low-profile in recent years.
He has essentially moved away from being in the spotlight, as Chalamet mentioned. However, he hasn’t had a chance to personally meet him… but he has witnessed him in person.
In an interview, Timothée Chalamet, who starred alongside Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, and Scoot McNairy, shared that Dylan (presumably a character or subject in the film) had some degree of creative input throughout the making of James Mangold’s biographical drama.
In the interview, Chalamet stated, “He endorsed the screenplay, he added his own touches to the screenplay, and there are parts of the script that I particularly enjoyed, which are his.
Chalamet expressed his hope that Mangold might share the screenplay Dylan annotated, considering it a precious cinematic keepsake of sorts.
As a die-hard fan, I found myself in conversation with Jim Mangold, exclaiming, “Dude, this is fantastic! When on earth did you think of this masterpiece?” To my surprise, he replied, “It was actually Bob who added that touch.” Now, I’m yearning for the Bob-marked script. I simply must have it!
In the movie, Timothée Chalamet not only sang but also acted out the performances, and he deliberately avoided trying to imitate Bob Dylan since such an attempt would have been creatively incongruous or illogical to attempt to emulate a well-known figure in music like Dylan.
Bob shared with Lowe that he didn’t work with a vocal coach, instead he mentioned, “He consumed two bottles of red wine and smoked four packs of cigarettes. It’s impossible to mimic such a thing.
He said of his performance as Dylan: ‘This is interpretive. This is not definitive. This is not fact. This is not how it happened. This is a fable.’
Dylan initially felt a gut feeling to keep others out at first, Chalamet explained, further noting that it’s not hard to comprehend why the musician could have appeared unique or unlike those who were established in the industry.
Chalamet stated, “I don’t recognize myself when I compare myself with my peers. This isn’t meant as self-deprecation, it’s simply how I feel.
Timothée Chalamet admitted that he often experiences feelings of unease and perceives himself as less refined than his peers in the entertainment industry.
In movie group interviews that I produce and switch to other actors, Chalamet noted that they seem more eloquent to him.
He mentioned, “I find they articulate the Hollywood image more effectively than me. It seems as though I trip over my words and struggle to convey it properly.
During the interview, Chalamet shared that he spent five years learning from a harmonica instructor to prepare for his role as Dylan, and took a journey across significant places tied to Dylan’s heritage, visiting Minnesota, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
It’s satisfying that it took five to six years for me to fully immerse myself in the ‘Church of Bob,’ as Timothée Chalamet put it. For the next three months, leading up to the movie’s release, I consider myself a devoted follower, a humble disciple in this Church.
Additionally, it seems that I’ve been given the chance to serve as a link between this particular genre of music or era.
In the initial segment of a comprehensive conversation, Timothée Chalamet shared some insights; the second part will be unveiled in a month’s time.
Five promotional photos featuring the movie’s cast and their corresponding musicians were shared by Searchlight Pictures on Instagram.
In this cast, Timothée Chalamet plays the role of Dylan, Jeffrey Wright portrays Pete Seeger, Elle Fanning is Sylvie Russo, Alessandro Nivola takes on Joan Baez, while Boyd Holbrook embodies Johnny Cash.
Many eager movie fans expressed their anticipation for the upcoming release, as seen in the nearby discussion forum.
The user finds these posters captivating, as they perfectly convey the atmosphere of that era. They’re eagerly anticipating the release of this movie!
Another added, ‘All the posters are awesome. We can feel the greatness here!’
One user expressed enthusiasm by saying: “This is simply amazing!! Each day, my anticipation for watching this film grows even stronger.
Timothée Chalamet made a big name for himself through his starring role in the 2017 film “Call Me By Your Name,” and he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role for that performance the very next year.
