It seems that Timothée Chalamet and his girlfriend Kylie Jenner contemplated avoiding Nikki Glaser’s Golden Globes opening speech to steer clear of her humor.

In her TV show appearance last January, the 40-year-old comedian playfully criticized Timothée Chalamet’s role as Bob Dylan in the film “A Complete Unknown.

Glaser mentioned that the duo nearly omitted the monologue following her notification to Chalamet’s representative regarding his mention in her introductory speech. She further explained that she sympathized with Jenner, as he is frequently the target of humor already.

At the Time100 Summit, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, she stated: ‘He received the message, and he was considering arriving late in order to avoid my speech altogether.’

She understands the situation since he’s accompanied by his girlfriend, who is often the target of jests. It wouldn’t be fair for her to poke fun at something about him if he’s going to be there, as it essentially becomes their night. Consequently, she doesn’t resent him for enjoying himself.

During her opener, Glaser poked fun of the actor’s mustache and his voice work in the film. 

During her speech, Nikki playfully commented about Timothée Chalamet, saying “Your upper-lip eyelashes are simply stunning – what a unique style!” as he and his girlfriend, aged 27, were present.

In a different rendition, here’s the sentence: ‘Your portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown was exceptional, and it’s said that your singing voice was uncannily like his. Interestingly, Bob Dylan himself acknowledged that it was quite dreadful.’

Moreover, Glaser noted that he contacted Chalamet’s representative prior to the joke, providing them with an advance notice, but did not share the exact phrasing.

She declared, “I adore Timothée! I may not share the jokes with you, but I assure you they’re all designed to elevate him and express my admiration. Rest assured, I have no intention of spoiling his evening in any way.

The comedian attributes her perceived “rudeness” to the jokes she told during the comedy roast of Tom Brady.

Nevertheless, she upheld her Golden Globes speech, asserting that “I’m not apologizing for anything I said at the Globes since I didn’t make any comments that were insulting about anyone’s appearance or weight.

Glaser is set to return as next year’s host for the 2026 Golden Globes.
