Tim Allen gives exciting Toy Story 5 update as he returns to role as Buzz Lightyear

As an ardent fan who has witnessed the evolution of Pixar’s cinematic masterpiece, Toy Story, over the years, I am beyond thrilled to hear that Tim Allen is returning as Buzz Lightyear for Toy Story 5. The anticipation is reaching new heights, akin to waiting for a spaceship to dock on my living room floor!

The fact that Allen has already spent five hours in the recording studio, and plans to revisit the character multiple times, suggests we’re in for a Buzz-tastic ride. I can almost hear his iconic phrase echoing through the cosmos – “To infinity… and beyond!”

I remember the first time I watched Toy Story back in 1995, and the bond between Buzz and Woody left an indelible mark on my heart. The emotional scene in Toy Story 4 where they bid each other farewell was particularly poignant, especially when Allen said, “To infinity,” and Hanks responded with, “And beyond.” As a fan who’s been through thick and thin with these characters, I can honestly say that their friendship resonates deeply.

Now, as we eagerly await the fifth installment of this epic saga, I can’t help but wonder: Will Buzz finally master the art of sarcasm like his human counterpart Tim Allen? Or perhaps we might see a Buzz who’s learned to appreciate the beauty of a good dad joke. After all, it’s been over five years since we last saw him, so I guess you could say he’s had plenty of time to develop a sense of humor!

Tim Allen is prepared to go ‘to infinity and beyond’ as Buzz Lightyear for Toy Story 5.

In an interview with Collider, the 71-year-old actor – known for his roles alongside Tom Hanks – shared insights about their latest venture as a fearless pair leading a team of iconic toys, which marks their fifth adventure together.

Allen recently completed a five-hour session with Buzz, which was around a week ago,” he shared with the media outlet. “To be honest, it’s quite strange being back at it.

The actor chose not to reveal details about the storyline of the much-awaited animated adventure, yet a source claimed that he will lend his voice to multiple characters of Buzz Lightyear in this upcoming project.

‘It’s a very, very clever story,’ he said of the script.

1995’s Toy Story, the pioneering animated film, garnered three Oscar nominations and earned an impressive revenue of over $394.4 million globally.

In response to the query, the seasoned Santa Claus figure asserted that, contrary to what one might think, money isn’t the primary driving force behind his decision to take on another project.

‘I’m sure they want it to be a success, but that’s not why they did it.’

Allen explained that the story was the real motivator.

He stated that without the exceptional screenplay, they wouldn’t have proceeded with the project, and neither him nor Tom Hanks would have been involved. He found it remarkably smart.

After being away from the character for over five years, the actor confessed that it was quite challenging initially. However, around the second hour, he found himself fully immersed as Buzz again.

According to Allen, it looks like we might get to watch the new adventure in theaters within a year. He’s currently working on the third act of the production.

After performing the third act, we’ll revisit it for cleaning purposes. Then, I’m planning to repeat this process approximately five more times before our anticipated 2026 release.
