I was so saddened to hear about the passing of Grandma Mary, the incredible 98-year-old who captured all our hearts on TikTok. She passed away peacefully on New Year’s Eve, and honestly, it feels like losing a little bit of joy from the internet. She was such a special lady!
Her granddaughter, known online as Pyxie, announced the news to her 1.4 million followers.
According to Pyxie, Grandma Mary passed away peacefully in her sleep as the year came to a close.
Pyxie shared a heartfelt photo with a message saying they said goodbye to their Grandma on New Year’s Eve. She passed away peacefully in her sleep.
She added, ‘How lucky we are to have experienced her and her love. She will always be with us.’
Grandma Mary became popular online after regularly appearing in videos on her granddaughter Pyxie’s TikTok, often showing her everyday life.
People loved her kind humor and constant smile, and she brought comfort and happiness to viewers everywhere.
Fans grew concerned in 2025 when Pyxie stepped back from posting for several months.
She came back online in December to let her fans know that her grandmother was still alive, though a bit more reserved these days.

Born in Massachusetts in 1927, Grandma Mary’s parents were Armenian refugees who escaped the genocide and came to the United States through Greece.
Growing up, her family’s journey as immigrants and the difficulties of starting over in a new country greatly influenced who she became.
She later returned to Armenia as a young adult, where she married and began raising a family.
In 1966, after having their children, she and her husband moved back to the United States.
The family moved to New Jersey and ran a gas station for many years, providing for their needs and becoming a well-known part of the local community.
Grandma Mary was one of five siblings and outlived them all.
She stayed active throughout her life and continued to enjoy swimming in her family pool until she was 87 years old.
