TikTok star Epic Gamer Grandma dead at 78 as family say they are ‘heartbroken’ and ‘proud’

Agnes, known online as Epic Gamer Grandma, the popular Scottish TikTok influencer, passed away on Sunday at 78, her family announced.

Agnes started using the social media platform in 2019 and has gained over 2.4 million followers thanks to her fun and endearing videos.

Her fans adored her for her quirky personality, including her passions for knitting and Minecraft. She was known for her playful humor and a distinctive, raspy cough that affectionately earned her the nickname ‘the coughing lady.’

In October, her grandson Culsans shared that she hadn’t been making new videos because she was in the hospital being treated for COPD, a lung disease.

Culsans announced two days later that she would undergo significant medical treatment for a lung issue, following a severe stroke.

He announced with great sadness that Agnes, known affectionately as their ‘epic gamer grandma,’ passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21st, 2025, at 9:20 PM, with her daughter Pauline by her side. He said she left the world as she lived it – surrounded by love.

He went on to explain that watching his mother, a remarkably strong woman, gradually lose her ability to speak was heartbreaking, and now that she’s passed away, they’re overwhelmed with regret for all the unsaid things.

Culsans said the family was both devastated and immensely proud of the woman their loved one always was, even before her online fame.

He lovingly described Agnes as the heart of their family, the person who kept everyone connected. He also admired how she embraced life in her later years, demonstrating that aging isn’t about stopping, but about finding new ways to live it.

Agnes wasn’t known as an ‘influencer’ for most of her life. She was simply a beloved family member, friend, and neighbor – a daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother.
