Tia Mowry repurposes her wedding ring from ex-husband Cory Hardrict two years after their divorce

Tamera Mowry-Housley, famously known from Sister, Sister, became emotional as she shared that she was removing her wedding ring from its drawer to pass it on to her children, Cree, aged 13, and Cairo, who is six.
In a recent episode of her show, “Tia Mowry: My Next Act,” Tia Mowry, who married Cory in 2008 and is now 46 years old, shared her desire to create something unique for her children using her wedding ring.
She confessed that she felt sad because the item no longer represented marriage, stating that it seemed wrong to part with it by selling it.
As the mother of two fought back emotions, she observed as the jeweler transformed a shimmering gemstone into both a necklace and a bracelet.
She shared: “I haven’t used it in nearly two years, and it seems odd to part with it. Instead, I’d like to transform my wedding band into a keepsake for my children. I want them to have it, as they are the greatest present I’ve ever received.
Tia tried to stop herself from breaking down as she explained that she hadn’t even seen the ring in two years because it had been sitting in her drawer.
‘I haven’t worn it. It’s just been sitting… It was very pretty,’ she added.
The mom-of-two noted that she was ‘sad’ the diamond no longer represented a ‘symbol of marriage’ before defending her decision to transform it into other jewelry pieces.
She explained: ‘It’s been two years and what I want to do is to take my wedding ring and turn it into some nice pieces, jewelry pieces, for my two kids.’
In the private conversation known as a confession, Tia openly shared that her mind had wandered towards her former partner while browsing in the jewelry store. She further stated that she recognized it was crucial for her to make decisions that served her own best interests.
It’s tough for me not to ponder over Cory while I consider reusing my wedding band, as it was him who presented that ring to me on our wedding day.
‘I was so surprised. So it’s very hard for me not to think about what he would think.
She expressed, “Ultimately, it’s my call to make. I believe he’ll manage, given that it concerns our children.
While at the diamond shop, she decided to make a necklace for Cree and a bracelet for Cairo.
I can’t help but marvel at the beauty of passing on something born from love, to our offspring. It’s as if it validates that our union was meaningful and purposeful. Indeed, I believe I made the right choice.
2023 marked the end of Tia and Cory’s 14-year union, as they officially divorced. They had announced their separation in 2022.
In that moment, Tia disclosed: ‘I’ve consistently been truthful with my followers, and today is no exception. I felt it was important to inform you all that Cory and I have chosen to part ways.’
Making these choices isn’t always straightforward, and they often bring a sense of melancholy. However, we can continue to share a bond while jointly raising our lovely kids as co-parents.
In the first episode of the show, Tia revealed that she was struggling with the dating scene and branded it ‘intimidating’ because Cory was her ‘first everything.’
She confessed: ‘I wasn’t able to go on dates until I was 18 years old,’ she shared. ‘I encountered Cory when I turned 20 and I lost my virginity at 25. There you have it! And then we got married!’
Additionally, the mother openly admitted that she didn’t hesitate to inform her children when she felt distressed by her separation from Cory.
