Richard Osman revealed he received an invitation to be on the next season of Celebrity Traitors, but couldn’t make it to the Scottish Highlands. The author of The Thursday Murder Club explained he had a single request to participate, but the show’s producers weren’t able to fulfill it.
He shared his love for Celebrity Traitors on Good Morning Britain. He explained he’d only agree to be on the show if he could play a Traitor, simply because he couldn’t stand the thought of being a Faithful and then lying awake at night in his room.
He went on to say that there are three people in the tower, seemingly enjoying themselves while wearing cloaks and filming something,” he continued.

I would simply be lying there, thinking, ‘I could be in danger at any moment‘. I wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. Of course, they can’t officially state, ‘yes, you are a Traitor‘.
I’m so hyped for the first series of Celebrity Traitors! It starts on Wednesday, October 8th, and the lineup is absolutely insane – they’ve got Stephen Fry, Clare Balding, Alan Carr, Nick Mohammed, Celia Imrie, Lucy Beaumont, and even Kate Garraway all playing. I can’t wait to see who the traitors are!
Claudia Winkleman is returning to host the show, and will once again be wearing her signature polo neck jumpers while filming at the Scottish castle.
Winkleman recently shared that she didn’t initially support creating a celebrity version of the show, especially since the original series was a huge success. “I was scared,” she confessed.
I only continued with this show because I really loved it, and I preferred to keep things limited in scope. I thought releasing something once a year, or perhaps once every two years, would be sufficient. Thankfully, my superiors didn’t listen to my suggestions.
It’s a real privilege [to host], she went on, “I was completely stunned when I saw everyone in the Highlands. I’m a huge admirer of each and every one of them. The entire team was amazed; it was difficult not to shout ‘you’re here!'”
I found hosting the celebrity version more nerve-wracking than the regular show, simply because I really wanted to connect with the celebrities and have them think highly of me. However, my role required me to be quite the opposite – very unlikeable! It was a really challenging balance to strike!
The most difficult part was maintaining a stern demeanor,” Winkleman explained. “I really just wanted to be sociable and kind, but my character is meant to be distant and bad-tempered. It was tough not to relax and simply have a chat and a cup of tea with them.”
I’m totally hooked on The Traitors – I’ve been binging series 1-3 over on BBC iPlayer. And get this – The Celebrity Traitors is hitting our screens on October 8th! I’m already counting down the days.
