Thunderpick World Championship 2025 Announcement

Thunderpick is offering a prize pool of $1,000,000 for its third annual Counter-Strike 2 World Championship – it’s not just about acquiring status. This crypto-supported platform is gearing up to host one of the year’s largest open events, with a LAN final set in Malta and an increasing influence within the professional CS2 scene.

Starting in 2023, the Thunderpick World Championship has stealthily progressed from a small-scale event to an established annual highlight. With a lengthy seven-month season, international qualifiers, and a substantial $1 million prize fund – the biggest ever offered by a bookmaker within esports – the 2025 event signifies Thunderpick’s most ambitious endeavor thus far.

The business has pledged a return in 2026, indicating their dedication to creating a lasting tournament series that will stand alongside established events such as BLAST and ESL.

For this year, our competition runs from April to October, starting off with preliminary rounds held concurrently in Europe, North America, and South America. The highest-ranking squads will then progress through the group stages, ultimately leading them to the LAN finals, which will once again take place in Malta as the host location.

The entire event will air live on Twitch. It’s being collaboratively organized by data company GRID, alongside Dexerto and HLTV, with Hotspawn serving as the main sponsor for the tournament once more.

Thunderpick World Championship 2025 Schedule

  • TWC EU1: April 28 – May 7
  • TWC NA1: May 8 – May 16
  • TWC SA1: June 27 – July 2
  • TWC SA2: July 8 – July 13
  • TWC NA2: July 24 – August 1
  • TWC EU2: August 5 – August 14
  • Closed Qualifier: September 9 – September 11
  • LAN Finals in Malta: October 15 – October 19

Although CS2’s schedule is brimming with competitions such as IEM and BLAST Premier, Thunderpick stands out by offering an open, non-franchise format that appeals to many teams. This approach successfully drew a star-studded roster for 2023 and 2024, featuring powerhouses like FaZe Clan (2023 Champions), Virtus.pro, MOUZ, Cloud9, Monte, Heroic, Complexity, and FURIA.

This year’s prize money – $150,000 distributed among the regional rounds and $850,000 set aside for the finals – surpasses previous records for an event sponsored by a bookmaker. It signifies Thunderpick’s determination to be recognized not only as a platform, but as a credible tournament organizer.

As Kelly Sanders, the strategy chief at Thunderpick, I’m all about ensuring our gamers and fans get an exceptional experience every time they join us. With the 2025 season in full swing, we’re already gearing up for even bigger things next year. Rest assured, Thunderpick is dedicated to backing and expanding the CS2 competitive scene, making it a force to be reckoned with!

Regardless of whether Thunderpick ultimately competes as a formidable rival or maintains its status as a prominent outsider, its presence brings a significant addition to the CS2 scene: an open invitation. In a landscape that’s leaning more towards exclusivity, Thunderpick’s approach offers a refreshing throwback with high stakes attached.

For fans, that means more to watch. For up-and-comers, it means more to fight for.
