Thunderpick teams up with ESIC to crush esports corruption: What this means for betting
“Fair play is what makes gaming truly fun.”
Through an alliance with Thunderpick, the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) aims to combat unethical practices such as corruption and match-rigging within the esports community. This collaboration is set to enhance surveillance and establish a more credible, reliable environment for esports.
ESIC expands anti-corruption network with Thunderpick partnership
At the ESIC, Thunderpick will function as an anti-corruption advocate, offering insights about corruption and match-fixing in competitive gaming, along with additional relevant details. As per the official declaration, this intelligence gathering will be achieved through continuous monitoring of betting activities for signs of suspicious behavior in real-time. Additionally, Thunderick will actively collaborate with ESIC during related investigations.
In simpler terms, Stephen Hanna, head of ESIC (Esports Integrity Coalition), voiced his approval for Thunderpick. Moreover, he mentioned that this collaboration is aimed at maintaining fairness in the world of esports.
Hanna expressed her appreciation for Thunderpick’s dedication to upholding honest standards in the worldwide esports sector, stating that it bolsters our initiatives to combat betting-linked corruption. Such partnerships empower us to enhance our surveillance mechanisms and guarantee that the esports realm continues to be a reliable and fair platform for competition.
Kelly Sanders, as Thunderpick’s Strategy Lead, similarly expressed her views on the announcement, aligning with many of Hanna’s perspectives.
In his own words, Sanders expressed, “It’s fair play that really brings joy to gaming experiences.” At Thunderpick, we fully grasp this concept – from supporting international competitions such as the Thunderpick World Championship, now in its third edition, to actively listening to our player base and being avid gamers ourselves. Honesty forms the core of all our actions.
Thunderpick World Championship 2025 spotlights CS2 esports action
The Thunderpick World Championship is an esports tournament for the game Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), offering a prize pool of $1,000,000. Starting back in April and running until October, according to the official event website, it includes six online series, an online closed qualifier, and a LAN finale held in Malta.
In the North American region, the first-ever online series has come to an end. Team Legacy emerged victorious, pocketing a prize of $20,000 USD and securing a spot in the closed qualifier. Interestingly, this team started as a Wildcard entry but showed exceptional performance throughout the competition, ultimately dominating it.
In the championship match, for instance, teams Legacy and NRG clashed on Maple, with Legacy gaining an initial 9-3 advantage early on. However, HexT from NRG turned things around with a remarkable 4k in round 13, which was followed by br0’s ace that tied the game at 10-10 and sent the match into overtime. Latto scored a 3k to give Legacy a chance to win the map, but Jeorge responded with another 3k, putting NRG ahead 15-14. In the end, though, it was Legacy who regained control, ultimately winning 16-13 thanks to Latto and IGL lux’s tight victory.
Initially, on Dust2, team NRG started with a dominant 3-0 lead. However, this advantage didn’t last long as lux scored nearly single-handedly on A site, bringing the halftime score to a tied 6-6. Despite HexT securing another 4k in the second half, Legacy’s offense proved too powerful for NRG’s defense. Working in unison, teammates Latto and dumau sealed the final round, resulting in a 13-8 victory and a 2-0 sweep for Legacy.
2025’s Thunderpick World Championship is set to carry on, starting with the South American series commencing on June 27th. For those eager to delve into CS2 esports wagering, simply head over to the Thunderpick site to get involved!
