Thunderbolts Star Shuts Down Avengers: Doomsday Rumors, Teases Future Marvel Projects

Despite one major Thunderbolts star previously informing fans they wouldn’t appear in Avengers: Doomsday, there are still numerous Marvel projects on the horizon. Intriguingly, several Thunderbolts cast members have been confirmed for roles in the upcoming fifth Avengers movie; however, it’s well-known that the list of actors is far from finalized as filming begins.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Valentina Allegra de Fontaine), who plays a role in the “Thunderbolts” series, has stated that she won’t appear in “Avengers: Doomsday.” Despite not being a part of this specific film, her involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to grow, with four projects under her belt since 2021. Her significant impact in the last Phase 5 movie suggests that her journey within the larger Marvel world is far from over.

On “Jimmy Kimmel Live”, Jimmy Kimmel inquired about Louis-Dreyfus’ potential role in the film “Doomsday”. In response, she declared, “I won’t be featured in that movie.” Yet, she expressed delight over being involved with the Marvel universe and chose to keep quiet about anything that might cause trouble for her.

Kimmel: “Will you be in the new ‘Avengers’ movie?”

Louis-Dreyfus: ‘”Doomsday?'”

Kimmel: “‘Doomsday,’ yeah.”

Actually, I won’t be appearing in that film, but I’m thrilled to join the Marvel universe. Unfortunately, I can’t reveal any more details about it.

Louis-Dreyfus is set to star as Val for the fourth time in the upcoming film, Thunderbolts, following her minor role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Before that, she made a brief appearance in Black Widow (released in 2021), and she first appeared as this character in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series on Disney+ in 2021.

In her role as CIA director, Val will play a pivotal part in assembling an exceptional group of characters who are not conventionally heroic, for a broader objective. Accompanying her on this mission will be Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Olga Kurylenko (Taskmaster), David Harbour (Red Guardian), and Lewis Pullman (Sentry). The movie titled Thunderbolts* is currently screening in cinemas across the globe.

Where Will Val Appear in the MCU After Thunderbolts?

Warning – The rest of this article contains spoilers for Thunderbolts*.

At this point, it has not been revealed that Louis-Dreyfus will be among the initial 27 cast members for the 2026 film “Avengers: Doomsday”. Nevertheless, given her character’s trajectory in “Thunderbolts”, it is clear that her storyline is yet to reach its conclusion.

In addition to serving as the director of the CIA, Val concludes the movie by bringing together a group she calls the Thunderbolts, acting as the New Avengers, during an unplanned press conference on the streets of New York City. Although her name is not currently listed in the cast for Doomsday, it’s possible that she could join the team at some point in the future due to her association with this new squad, as they are shown working out their issues in Thunderbolts’ second post-credits sequence.

After that announcement, fans will need to stay tuned for updates on the direction of the MCU at a street level. Although Thunderbolts seemed to step away from Multiverse tales, it’s been confirmed that Phase 6 will be filled with stories involving characters from different realms.

In terms of where we might see Val next, she could potentially join the cast of “Doomsday” at a later stage, given that all other surviving members of the Thunderbolts have already been announced. Other possible scenarios include roles in upcoming movies like “Black Panther 3” or “Armor Wars,” but the specifics for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s street-level future are yet to be finalized.

As a movie enthusiast, I must say that with Val’s formidable powers and her knack for capitalizing on public attention, it’s quite likely we’ll witness an abundance of chaos in the upcoming events she orchestrates, given her Avengers-inspired antics.
